InfoCaptor is a powerful dashboard application specifically intended for aggregating, reporting, and displaying information from single or multiple databases. The software can connect to any database (Oracle, MySQL, DB2, MS Access, etc.), and through a series of simple SQL queries, create extensive visual representations of the desired data in the form of tables, charts and graphs. Each InfoCaptor dashboard can contain and display data from any number of discreet databases in a single view, and is equipped to handle Parent-Child queries, drills and even nested-loops.
With access to flexible layout options and straightforward drag-and-drop functionality, InfoCaptor users have the power to effortlessly create beautiful, eye-catching dashboards. Users can easily export the dashboard data to Excel, PDF or HTML while retaining fonts and colors with zero programming effort, facilitating the creation of attractive briefing books for clients and colleagues. InfoCaptor is easy to install and operate, and requires a minimum knowledge of server technology. Even better, it requires a minimum involvement from IT departments.
"The software can connect to any database"? Not according to the product's own page ("all major databases"), nor my tests. Please correct this.
The software uses ODBC or JDBC to connect to a database, you should be able to use it with any database. If you're having difficulties then please let the Vendor know.
The software comes packaged with the JDBC driver for Oracle, MySql and SQL Server. It has the built in support for ODBC connection through the JDBC-ODBC bridge. You will need to get the appropriate ODBC driver and create the DSN entry using the Microsoft ODBC administrator and then use InfoCaptor to connect.
Hello Graham and others needing ODBC help, Please follow these steps Part 1: Creating the Data Source in Control Panel To create a Data Source Name (DSN) that points to a Visual FoxPro database, follow these steps. NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps. 1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. 2. In Control Panel, double-click the ODBC Data Sources (32bit) icon to start the ODBC Data Source Administrator. 3. In the ODBC Data Source Administrator, click the User DSN tab, and then click Add. 4. In the Create New Data Source dialog box, click the Microsoft Visual FoxPro driver, and then click Finish. 5. In the ODBC Visual FoxPro Setup dialog box, in the Data Source Name box, type a name for your new data source, for example, useVFP. 6. In the Description box, type a description, for example, Visual FoxPro User DSN. 7. Under Database type, click Visual FoxPro database (DBC). 8. In the Path box, type the path to your .dbc file, or click Browse to locate the file, and then click OK. The data source is created. * Now launch InfoCaptor * click on the connect button * select the "ODBC (DSN) - sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver" in the Driver list * clear all the fields in the connect window excep the "DB Name" field * Enter "userVFP" in the "DB Name" field from the above DSN setup * Click connect. Let me know if any issues Thanks Nilesh
