Hitman Is this the same thing from BenVista here?

There's a small price difference here (Pro version from BenVista is $219). Are they exactly the same program?

Jan-Christoph Ihrens @Huidong: The screenshots and the image of the package even say "BenVista". ;) And it looks exacly like the BenVista version I'm using. So I'd guess that the answer is "yes".

I'm very content with PhotoZoom Pro 4. I've been using it for about a year now, and it's definitely better than Photoshop's algorithms or any of the other two or three similar tools I tried. If you need something like this, give it a try!

Read MoreSoftware Guy Photozoom Pro4 is the professional enlarger from BenVista. It yields very slightly better, meaning sharper results than the two competitors who are ReShade (offered earlier on BDJ) and Bearded Frogs PhotoEnlarger. But I will say that all three give very good to excellent results, especially compared to Photoshop's built in but soft looking enlargements.
BenVista also offers Photozoom Classic at about half the price of pro, and they also offer a neat little set of 5 programs called PhotoMagic which includes an SE version of the enlarger as well as touch up and photo to art filters. This is a nice little package targeted at home users with a regular price of $60. I might suggest that Avanquest consider offering this on BDJ.
Today's pro offering is targeted toward professionals who use enlargement regularly for photo, engineering and advertising. If your needs are occasional, then the smaller offerings might be better suited. But for the serious user, this is a great opportunity to get the best enlarger at discount - Thanks Avanquest/BenVista.
For the occasional enlargement needs of the home user, Reshade offers an online service which is pay as you go or subscription. It is ideal for that very occasional enlargement without spending big money on a seldom used software app. And the results are excellent.
Hopefully this abbreviated overview will help BDJ users make informed decisions.

Frank Stephens I also purchased BenVista PhotoZoom Pro 4 at a similar discount from the same vendor, and it's a great product with great reviews. It's regularly updated, and installs PhotoShop plugins. It's very easy to use, has presets and customizable settings, and caches previews, so that you can easily compare algorithms and parameters.

Ben Novista Great program but huge price. Hundred Dollars for only enlarging pictures is to much. In normal conditions there is no benefit from the s-spline algorithm. For the price of the program you can develop several big posters in a copyshop.

Frank Stephens Ben Novista, the difference between PhotoZoom's S-spline derivatives and other enlargement algorithms is obvious. Whether it's worth it to you is a personal decision, it's clearly targeted at those who value image quality.

Software Geek Yes, I dont specifically care what version of SSpline enlarging you use this is not exactly secret technology here, the fact is the price is ridiculously high in my book for what it does. If you feel that it is worth it, I say buy it.

Read MoreSoftware Guy Since there seems to be an interest, there is another stand alone enlarger that is available beyond the names mentioned so far and that is Imagener enlarger which comes in 3 flavors from $30 to $100 and my experience with it is that it is very good also, certainly comparable to reshade or bearded frog. The vectorizing professional version is said to give even better results but at $99 I haven't tried it yet.

it comes as part of a photo bundle which includes eye candy, a popular photo design program. if you have alien skin then IMHO photozoom pro would not be necessary.
Each of these programs does a very good to excellent job of enlarging, and sometimes the enlargements are surprisingly good. Use them to achieve good to great results rather than depending on whatever the photo oprocessor is going to do, especially when you want a decent 10x14 or bigger from that 10 megapixel camera...or when you want a blowup of that eagle in the background of that photo.
Each enlarger leaves some small artifacts but all give very good results. In my opinion photozoom seems to achieve ever so slightly sharper and higher contrast results than the competition. But all are good. And this is a very good deal on the pro version of photozoom4.

Frank Stephens People are always asking, "How does this compare to brand X?" BDJ nearly always provides a trial download link. It's not up to other people to make decisions for you. As for the price of PhotoZoom Pro, one could always wish for cheaper, but today's deal isn't bad. Developers set their price based on the market. Enlargers qualify as a niche market. PhotoZoom Pro is aimed at least at semi-professional photographers, who are typically willing to pay for quality. For the developer, they may not get enough sales at a lower price to offset the lost revenue from charging a higher price. Simple supply-and-demand. BenVista is, in fact, offering PhotoZoom Pro at a substantial discount from its usual price. The discounted price compares reasonably well to the price of other specialized photo-processing tools.

Stephen User I guarantee you 99.7 percent of the people out there will not know the difference between the visual quality sspline software out there and I am a professional graphic designer going on 20 years and yes $200 is ridiculous price for an app that does this one thing. But the cheapest one you can.
