How many times have you been in an application, went to File ===> Open, and were confronted by column after column of file names that were completely incompatible with the application? If you're working in Word, for example, you would absolutely never need to see image files or sound files listed in the Open File dialog box. Yet, there they are.

Formats Customizer is your ultimate solution for removing unwanted document types from application file dialogs! With Formats Customizer, you'll instantly notice much cleaner, more concise dialog boxes for the Open, Save, Import, and Export commands.

Once you install Formats Customizer, the program integrates seamlessly into several popular programs, including Adobe, Microsoft, Corel, and Quark! Just pick and choose the types of file formats that you wish to keep, and you're good to go!

Software Guy Thanks Lana for the tip. Took a look - clipdiary is a nice, simple clipboard tool. But the jewel is flashpaste- a small tool that lets you set up aseries of text strings for quick pasting. The beauty of the tiny program is that it is portable, meaning that it mounts and runs from a USB drive. This is a useful tool. In the bundle, it is $17.45 for both. Take a look for yourself.

Ray C Nice spam. I will be certain to direct people away from that Clip Diary and Fish Paste software because of such tactics.

Robert Cross I looked into the spam comment. Turns out, the recommended software is not from the developer of Formats Customizer. That does make the post spam. But, after thinking about it more, this is a website for discounted software, and a nice offering at a good discount might benefit some bitsdujour visitors. Perhaps food for thought, Bitsdujour.

The posting does not detract in any way from the unique offering here - Formats Customizer looks like a great utility for school and public use computers where the amount of file formats offered by programs such as Word really should be reduced.

I deleted the comment, but I agree, as they go this was fairly innocuous. And quite possibly not even spam.

We've actually promoted both Flashpaste and Clipdiary on Bits in the past, for whatever that's worth...

Anyhow, I hope we're all in agreement that keeping Bits du Jour spam free is a worthwhile pursuit. Even when it means encroaching on some grey areas :-)
