About Toto

The group Toto was formed in the year 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro and David Paich (who were also well-known studio musicians who worked with Boz Scaggs at the time) and singer/bassist Bobby Kimball. The group's name was derived from the Latin word that means "all-encompassing" and was determined to explore every musical style.

The third album by Toto, Turn Back, was a failure in 1981. However they came back with their fourth album, Isolation, which contained two hits, including the title song and Roseanna. The album and tour established them as a brand all over the world.

Joseph Williams, the son of John Williams, the legendary film composer and actress Barbara Ruick from 1950s, is now replacing Fergie Frederiksen as lead singer. Joseph is an easier frontman than Frederiksen and gives the band a needed boost.
