Choosing a Double Umbrella Stroller

It's important to consider the priorities of your family and their needs when shopping for a double stroller. This will help you narrow down your options and concentrate on the most essential features.

The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 double umbrella stroller is a well-made, upscale product that folds down in a compact manner. It comes with large umbrellas and a large storage bin and is easy to maneuver.

Lightweight

The best double umbrella strollers offer many functions in a small, light package. They're not as heavy as a traditional jogger or stroller and are usually smaller when folded. They don't have the bells and whistles you'll find on full-size strollers, but they usually come with large canopy and plenty of storage space, and reclined seats.

A lightweight double umbrella stroller is a popular choice for families that travel together. It folds easily, fits into the majority of trunks and airline carry-on bags, and is the best option for navigating narrow sidewalks and tight doors. It's also cheaper than a "travel stroller" with more features that you could use regularly.

Some of the top double strollers like the UPPAbaby G-Link 2 have features you won't find on cheaper models. This double umbrella stroller includes hanging storage pockets and trays inside each seat to store kids' toys and snacks as well as two parent cupholders. The sleek design makes this double umbrella stroller one of the slimmest available. It also has an extra-wide canopy to protect both seats.

Other options that are lightweight such as the Joovy Kooper X2, have more of the bells and whistles that you would expect from a double umbrella stroller. It also offers a more comfortable ride for both kids because of the padded seating and a deeper recline in each seat. It's important to remember, though, that the more features you choose, the more the stroller will weigh. Also, because of the way these strollers are able to open and close, you'll want to be cautious not to let your little fingers touch frames or hinges, especially if your child is sitting in a seat or a chair.

Compact

When folded, the small double umbrella strollers are easily maneuverable and fit into small spaces. These strollers are a great option for parents who frequent the sidewalks, shopping malls, or to travel to tourist attractions like the zoo or aquarium. These lightweight, compact strollers are great for commutes, or as a backup stroller to a heavier stroller with more features when traveling.

There are two types of lightweight double umbrellas: those that have very few features, and those that come with various comfort and convenience options in addition to their compact size. Some of the best examples include large pop-out umbrellas, with SPF 50, windows that peek out and padded seats. They also come with five-point safety harnesses on both sides, as well as adjustable leg rests as well as reclining seats. Other key factors to consider are whether or not you need a tray for parents, car seat attachment capability and how much storage space each seat comes with.

The Delta Children LX Double Umbrella provides a lightweight, low-cost umbrella that is affordable. This stroller weighs just 18 pounds and comes with an easy-to-carry strap that can be schlepped easily in the trunk of your car, or a front hall closet when it is not in use. Its front wheels are precision technology and can swivel to give you a smoother ride and easier steering. The new Kinderwagon Hop is a tandem umbrella stroller that has a narrow width, which is also ultralight and easy for you to maneuver through doorways. The model was out of the market for a few years but is now back in production and is worth checking out. It also has a larger three-panel canopy to provide better sun protection than the smaller, basic models in this review.

Easy to Fold

The most basic umbrella strollers fold up like umbrellas and weigh less than other kinds. They are easy to carry, lift and store which makes them perfect for those times when you don't want to bring your full-size stroller due to any reason (traveling on a plane, exploring in a new country, visiting grandma). These strollers are usually less well-equipped than fully-featured models, but they should provide the basic features like storage space and a sun canopy.

The G-Link 2's newest version is lighter, narrower and has a more efficient wheel structure on the front, which improves its maneuverability and pushability. It's a great option for a double stroller. And it's Disney-approved!

A double tri-folded stroller, such as the Joovy Kooper X2 offers all the convenience and comfort of an umbrella stroller within the same form as a large-sized stroller. This kind of stroller is replacing the traditional double umbrella stroller. It's probably the best option if you are seeking a light, flexible stroller.

The majority of double umbrella strollers we recommend are side-by-side models. The exception is the Kinderwagon Hop, a tandem umbrella stroller that's super light and easy to fold (though it's also quite small in width). If you're looking for a low-cost, simple, no-frills double umbrella stroller that you can put in your trunk or back pack for quick trips, we strongly recommend this model. It even has two storage bags that hang on the backs of each seat and parent cupholders. It's so basic, you could not get your kids through the airport without noise. However, it will make your journey more comfortable.

Comfortable Seats

Most umbrella strollers don't have much in the way of bells and whistles because they're designed to do one thing: get two kids from point A to point B. They typically have comfortable, spacious seats but no reclining options or all terrain wheels.

The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 stands out. It's a surprisingly light and compact double umbrella stroller with two seats that weigh less than 18 pounds each, making it an ideal choice for anyone who travels (it does meet Disney size requirements). It has a huge canopy with three panels to protect children from the sun. Both seats come with plenty of storage but not as much as our top picks. It also has the important 5-point safety harnesses in both seats as well as windows that peek out in their canopy.

A downside of the G-Link is that it doesn't have the belly bar and snack tray that we love to see in our top picks, but they aren't essential features for an umbrella stroller anyway. And, like any umbrella stroller, it should be handled with care so that fingers - whether your own or a child's--don't get caught in the hinges that fold up the frame and mechanisms.

In the majority of double umbrella strollers they have seats that are side-by-side. However, there are models with inline seating (one seat is in front of the other). Inline models are easier to navigate through doorways than models that are side by side however their seating arrangements can cause your children to fight over which seat. Our previous testers were equally divided on this issue and it's an individual choice.

Safety

When choosing a stroller for your child, safety is the most important consideration. The design of an umbrella for a double stroller can affect its performance. Some models are close to offering the same level of security as the full-sized double strollers. These strollers typically have 5-point harnesses, calf and foot rests for the kids, and an extendable, UPF 50+ sun visor. They are typically also narrower and lighter than other double umbrella strollers which makes them easier to maneuver in tight spaces such as airports or city streets.

double pram pushchair , such as the Kinderwagon Hop, are side-by-sides and are especially easy to push through small spaces. This stroller is an excellent option for parents who are traveling with their children and need a quick and convenient way to get around. It's also compact enough to fit into a trunk.

The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 is another model worth looking into. It is among the most light double strollers that we have tested. It's a surprising sturdy design for an umbrella style product. It also features a large, easily accessible storage basket with reclining seats, as well as the window that peeks out. The seat can also hold 35 lbs and is able to meet Disney stroller dimensions.

Other models, such as the Jeep PowerGlide double stroller, are more basic in appearance and may not offer as many features. However these strollers are very lightweight and can be utilized as a backup for travel purposes on occasion. They're also less expensive than renting a stroller for the duration of a vacation or trip. They are easy to fold, lift, transport, and stow away.
