BMW Smart Key

The majority of new cars that are on sale today have keyless fobs that permit users to lock, unlock, and even start their car without the need for a physical key. They can be heavy and drivers are more likely to lose or break them.

BMW has introduced a new high-tech twist to their existing phone-as-key technology with the Display Key. This blog post will inform you all about it.

Keyless Entry

With BMW Digital Key, you can lock and unlock your car by tapping your smartphone. To get started, simply download the app from Apple Wallet or Google Play Store and follow the on-screen instructions. After you have linked your mobile phone compatible to your BMW Connected Account, you can share your account with up to five friends or family members who also use the app. If someone accepts your invitation, they'll be able to unlock and start your car without needing to have an actual key. This feature is available with or without data connection even if your smartphone is set to airplane mode.

The convenience of the BMW Smart Key goes well beyond simply unlocking your car. It can be used to open the trunk as well as control the HVAC, check your fuel range and much more. Battery Replacement

For instance, the older diamond-shaped BMW key fobs are not intended to be replaced. They are sealed with glue, so trying to pry off the backplate is likely to cause some damage to the fob. The CR2450 battery or CR2032 can be replaced in newer fobs by removing the fob.

You can remove the valet keys from the most popular smart key models (1 3, 5 7 and X) by pressing the small tab. Then, you can open the access port using a screwdriver. This should reveal a small groove in the opening. Use the tool to push the tab in and then pull out the valet key to reveal the CR2032 battery inside. Replace the battery with a brand new one, and then put the cover back on.

You'll need a different approach if you have a Display key with a touchscreen. While the Display Key is extremely waterproof, it's not water proof like an ordinary key fob, so you'll need to be cautious when the risk of exposing it to too much water. While it is able to survive an immersion in the washing machine, it's recommended to treat it like you would a smartphone -do not worry about rain but keep it out from a body of water.
