Bedside Cots

A bedside crib, also known as a side sleeper or bassinet, fixes to the parent's bed and lets baby sleep close to the parent. They're a safe method of co-sleeping, and are ideal for mothers recovering from c-sections.

MFM tester Georgina found the Chicco Next2me Side Sleeping Crib very quick and easy to assemble (one of the fastest during testing). It's height-adjustable, can tilt into an inclined position for reflux babies and is a good alternative for travel cots.

You're secure

Bedside cots, or co-sleepers as they are also known, are specially designed infant sleep solutions that let babies sleep close to their parents without the risk of SIDS. They resemble Moses baskets, but they are connected to the side of a parent's bed. One side is open, so parents can easily reach their infant sleeping. They're ideal for families who wish to enjoy the benefits of co-sleeping but are concerned about the dangers associated with sharing beds.

Many are concerned about the safety of an infant bassinet or bedside sleeping device However, CHOICE has found that when used properly these products are safe and have a low risk of accidents and injuries. These products are also a great choice for parents who are new and struggling with the exhaustion of night feedings and early morning diaper changes. Bedside cribs let you monitor your child and if they get up in the middle of the night or call you for some reason, you'll be able to comfort them or change their nappy fast.

If you're looking for a secure bedside cot, you should choose one that has a durable, breathable mattress. A mattress that is breathable can aid in controlling the temperature of your baby's body and help prevent overheating. A fitted sheet that fits your mattress is also recommended and so is a nappy-changing kit with a waterproof cover. You can purchase all these items online or at stores that specialize in baby products. It's important to remember that you shouldn't ever make use of secondhand items or hand-me-downs, as these may be recalled or damaged and may not meet necessary safety standards.

A good quality bedside crib is easy to set up and can be taken apart to be stored. Some models have tilt positions that can be adjusted, which can make it easier for babies to sleep in an elevated position or for parents who suffer from reflux. Some models come with a travel bag included so they can be easily put away and taken along when you travel.

It's easy to clean

The appropriate products make it simple to clean bedside cots. Remove any bedding like sheets, blankets or a cuddly toy, and wash them according the instructions of the manufacturer. Clean the cot including the mattress. Pay special attention to the corners and crevices. A mattress protector can also aid in reducing the accumulation of dust mites, bacteria and other germs.

Then, clean the cot with an abrasive cloth soaked with baby-safe cleaner or a natural stain-removing spray. Every now and then, dampen a clean cloth to remove soapy residues and keep the surfaces clean. If the mattress is stained, use a gentle scrub brush to remove them and a bit of baking soda to improve the lingering odours. Test the cleaning solution on a small part of the mattress before using it.

If the cot is disassembled it can be easier to access all of its surfaces and nooks and crannies for thorough cleaning and sanitizing. You can use a mild detergent and warm water to wash the mattress and its protector.

If the cot is constructed from wood, it is possible to disinfect it using a mix of white vinegar and warm water. This natural disinfectant can kill bacteria without leaving harmful residues or damaging the wood. Test a small piece of wood to make sure it will not be damaged. Then apply the solution using a soft cloth, and allow it to dry before putting back together.

They are easy to move

A bedside crib, also known as a co-sleeper or bedside bassinet, is specifically designed infant sleeping solution that lets your baby sleep next to your bed. These cribs are small, portable and easy to move from room to room as required. These cribs are also great if your home is small or you are planning to travel with your child.

Unlike regular baby beds cribs for bedside use, they are designed to attach to the sides of your bed so you can easily lift your infant into and out for nighttime feedings and calming. These cribs are constructed with a removable or drop-down side for easy lifting. They also come with adjustable heights and tilts. Some cribs even convert into full cot beds as your child grows, giving you added longevity and value.

These sleeping solutions are ideal for traveling because they are lightweight and portable. One mom says, "It is small and compact so it can easily be moved around the home and fit in a bag." "My husband is able to carry it up and down without difficulty."

The Shnuggle Air on the side of the crib is a different option that is light which was shortlisted in 2021's Best Cot Crib, Cot or Moses Basket category at the Mother&Baby awards. Gulhan Arapoglu agrees that it is easy to move and feels sturdy. But, she notes that it's a little larger than some cribs that are placed on the bed, and isn't suitable for infants who might roll or flip.

They're comfy

The best bedside cribs allow babies to sleep with their parents however, they have their own sleeping area. They are usually much smaller than a Moses Basket or a standard crib and can be folded and stored away when not in use. It's also easier to reach for night feedings, diaper changes, and for soothing. This makes them perfect for new mothers recovering from a c-section since they won't have to bend as much to care for their infant during the night.

The crib is also a good option for parents who are concerned about the risks associated with co-sleeping. bedside cot crib is due to the fact that the crib is located closer to the bed of the parent and is less prone to the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) than co-sleeping in a standard bassinet or cot. This kind of secure, co-sleeping known as "rooming in" is important for the development of a baby.

You can also purchase a wide range of different bedsides that include an inflatable mattress that you can take along on your travels and others that convert into a separate baby cot or toddler bed. Some even have incline positions which can be great for babies who have reflux. You can also find a crib that attaches to the bed of the parent, or comes with locking wheels. This will prevent the crib from being moved accidentally while the baby sleeps.

If you're thinking of buying the possibility of a crib next to your bed, ensure it's a ventilated and durable baby mattress. This will ensure the safety of your child. We recommend a mattress made of foam with a soft, long-lasting cover. This will ensure that your baby is comfy and warm while they're sleeping.

Some bedsides are also simple to slide and collapse which is perfect for those morning feeds when you're bleary-eyed. The Joie Roomie Glide, shortlisted for the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards in the Best Cot, Moses Basket or Crib category, is an excellent example of a bedside crib that is easy to lower. It's also compact enough to fit into a travel bag. This is a fantastic feature for parents who are busy.
