Buy a Category B+ Driving License Online

A Class B CDL opens up a variety of opportunities for trucking. It permits you to drive large vehicles, such as straight buses and trucks. You can also tow a trailer if it's part of the vehicle class that is specified in the registration certificate of the vehicle.

The requirements for training and testing, job opportunities and endorsements are different between the different CDL classes. Which one is best for you?

What is a category B+ license?

Category B+ is the type of driving licence that lets you to drive a vehicle that has either a semi-trailer, or a trailer. This licence is only available to drivers who are 18 years old or older and whose trailer or vehicle have a maximum mass (MAM1) of not more than 3,500 kg. The Category B+ license is an excellent option for those who want to drive larger vehicles but do not want to take the Class A CDL test.

State-specific requirements differ and include a noncommercial driver's licence and passing a medical exam. You may need to pass a written test and take an instructor-led safety or driving course. You might need to be 21 years old in some states to obtain a Class B CDL. Check the requirements of your state.

Generally, drivers who passed a car test before 1 January 1997 and who hold a category B license can drive a motor car with a trailer on condition that the MAM1 of the trailer and vehicle does not exceed 3,500 kilograms. However they will not be able to drive a vehicle with trailers that fall under subcategories C1+E orD1+E and must pass the relevant driving tests in order to upgrade their licence in order to permit them to do so.

In certain EEA Member States drivers who have passed the category B driving test are exempt from taking the category BE driving test and can therefore tow trailers with the maximum authorized weight of up to 12,000 kilograms in their category B licence. This exception is documented on the registration certificate of the vehicle.

Class B CDL requirements differ from state to state, however, they must have an excellent driving record and passing a physical exam. You may be required to attend a course which combines classroom learning and hands-on driving. You can choose to add endorsements such as passenger transport and a small HAZMAT to your class B licence which can increase your employment opportunities.


What are the prerequisites to obtain a category B+ license?

A category B+ driving licence is a great way to move up the ladder when it comes to commercial vehicle licensing. While it doesn't have quite as many endorsements as a Class A license however, it opens the door to many lucrative career opportunities and permits you to drive vehicles that aren't available on a regular car or truck (C) license.

To get a category B+ driving licence, you must be at least 18 years old and have a clean criminal record and pass a medical test. Depending on the type work you're looking to do, there are also specific requirements for certain kinds of vehicles. If you intend to drive across state lines or transport hazardous material, you will need an endorsement for that.

Contrary to other licenses for driving, a category B+ driving license is valid for five years. However, you might be required to pass additional medical exams or other tests to renew your license. Some countries also require drivers to complete specific training prior to being able to start driving certain kinds of vehicles.

The definition of a category B+ vehicle is very like a standard category B license. A category B+ vehicle is any large truck that has a GVWR of 26,001 pounds or more but does not include a tractor/semi-trailer. This includes large fire trucks cement mixers, delivery trucks. The majority of these trucks can carry the capacity to carry 85,000 pounds.

To obtain a category B+ driver's license you must pass a test of driving for the category B vehicle with trailers whose maximum authorized mass is not greater than 3,500 kilograms. This is a requirement for Norway and EEA member states, with the exceptions of Denmark.

If you pass the driver's exam in a category-B vehicle before 19th January 2013, your licence will automatically be upgraded to include the full category B+E eligibility. To operate any vehicle larger than the category A vehicle, you will need to pass an additional test in the subcategories D1+E or C1+E. This includes vehicles that are towed by passengers or a towed vehicle.

Where can I get a category B+ license?

If you hold a category B licence, you can drive motor vehicles that have an authorized maximum mass (MAM) of up to 3.5 tonnes. This includes trailers that weigh up to 750 kilograms. You can also drive a car and trailer combination that has an MAM of up to 8,250 kg provided that the combined MAM is not more than 12,000 kg.

You can add category B+ to your driving licence after you have passed an exam for the vehicle type you wish to drive. This is completed by filling out the form D2 and submitting it to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency. You can also get categories automatically added to your license For instance you can be granted full category C1+E rights when you pass your car driving test or a category E licence if you have completed a coach or bus driving test.

A category B license permits you to drive vehicles that have up to eight passengers. This is the most commonly used type of licence for cars. You can tow a car in the event that its MAM does exceed 750kg. If you want to tow a trailer with more than 750 kg, then you will need to have a category BE license.

You can also ride tricycles with motors that are small in the event that their engine size is not larger than 50cc. This includes e-scooters that are trial versions. You can also ride a moped, if it has an engine of up to 15kW. You can also apply for an AM category license that permits you to drive mopeds and motorcycles up to 125cc, including those used as learners vehicles. This can be added to your category A license by filling out the form D2 to DVLA together with your licence and any supporting documents. The cost is PS12.50. You must pass an exam in theory and a practical driving test before you are able to add category AM to your licence.

What is the cost of B+ category licenses?

A class B+ CDL is a good option for truckers looking to start their career with something less intimidating than the Class CDL. This license permits you to drive any single-unit vehicle that is permitted for a Class E driver, buses and vehicles with a gross weight rating (GVWR), of at least 26,001 pounds (depending on the restrictions). This is a great option for truckers that want to start small but eventually take on larger loads.

You will need to meet the minimum requirements of your state to obtain the category B+ license. This will usually include having a high school diploma or GED certificate as well as an impeccable driving record and passing a Department of Transportation medical exam. You must be at least 18 years old to qualify for the category B+ license. However, certain states have more age requirements.

It is worth noting that there are a myriad of different endorsements that you can add to your category B+ driving license to expand the types of vehicles you can drive. You can add endorsements to your category B+ driving license to expand the types of vehicles that you can drive. These include HAZMAT (which allows you to transport dangerous substances), tanker (which allows you to drive tanks filled with gas or liquids) double/triple-trailers which allow you to pull multiple trucks at a time.
