The Band Toto Asia

Toto was expanding production facilities abroad, and doing business in France and Germany, Indonesia, Korea and Taiwan, Thailand and the People's Republic of China. North America was seen as an opportunity to grow for toilets and bidet seats, in contrast to its "base" markets in Japan and China.

Dhaniram Toto documented Toto words to ensure that the future generation could be able to read the words. However, many words were being replaced by foreign ones, like dui, which is Bengali for verandah.

Origins

Toto's early history, which began in 1917, mirrored Japan's rapid economic growth. In the beginning, Toto produced goods to meet the demand for modern, contemporary urban housing. To do this, it used the first tunnel kiln in the country that produced ceramics in continuous flow. It also pioneered the use of automation to control production, allowing for more efficiency and consistency.

In the latter half of the 1980s, the company began to expand overseas in order to take advantage of sales and new markets. The company created the Cera Trading Company to import and market other products of other manufacturers in order to enhance its own line of sanitary earthenwares as well as plumbing fittings. This strategy helped to increase sales and expand the company's market share in the world.

By the 1990s, Toto had shifted its focus to research and development of household appliances that are water-related. It also upgraded its distribution system to better serve the needs of its customers and boost profits. The company employed the same just-in-time approach to its supply chain management and sales program. This resulted in a higher level of customer satisfaction.

Toto continued to innovate toilet technology. The most recent toilet features a powerful, environmentally-friendly tornado flush. The company makes use of recycled water for its manufacturing process, and also has a green purchasing policy. Toto also produces faucets, bathtubs and hand dryers with higher energy efficiency than conventional models.

The first museum of the company opened in 2015, and it has exhibitions about Toto's iconic products and their development and its group companies (all related to ceramics) and the history of plumbing and products such as bath units and, in a separate gallery, Toto products sold around the world. The museum even has a bathroom that includes a WASHLET toilet as well as other toilet-related innovations.

Before forming Toto the members of the band did sessions for many musicians. Boz Scaggs album Silk Degrees featured keyboardist David Paich and guitarists Mike Porcaro & Steve Lukather and drummer Jeff Porcaro & Steve Lukather. They also performed on albums by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, and Sonny and Cher.

Discography

It is common for a group with a name such as Asia to be a prog band however, it's actually a pretty straightforward rock group. The band started out as a quartet, and they recorded two albums - 1979's self titled debut and 1980's Armed to the Teeth. The band has a varied musical background but their biggest success was in 1982 with Toto IV.

check out here was a huge blockbuster, but not without its own set of issues. Record companies placed the band on the place with the directive "give us a hit record or we'll take you off the market" and the pressure was on them to give it. After Toto IV, the band's fortunes started to plummet. David Hungate left to concentrate on his solo career, and the band was through numerous drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball was fired from the band in wake of drug charges and the band continued as a trio with Michael Porcaro and Steve Lukather.

Toto released Isolation despite the turmoil. It wasn't as well-liked as IV. The band managed to release a chart-topping album, Kingdom of Desire, in 1992. The album was the last of Toto's lineup and the debut of Simon Phillips, a new singer.

Line-up


The band's third album, Turn Back, marked an reversion to the classic sextet format of previous albums and was a stronger, more consistent effort with a harder edge than Hydra. The edgier sound of Turn Back was a reflection of the maturation in the group. Drummer Bobby Kimball's increased ability to play was evident in the vocal delivery of Joseph Williams, who had become more confident and mature. Keyboardist David Paich's work also was sharper, more intricate, and less derivative than previously recorded recordings.

After touring to promote the album, the band recorded a live concert in Amsterdam that was released as a two-CD set entitled Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records. The group released a brand new studio album just a few months after and embarked on a tour around the world to promote the album. During this period, keyboardist Greg Phillinganes replaced Paich and bassist David Hungate quit the group to spend time with his family.

In 1998, Paich and Lukather started exploring old demos and tapes in search of an album that would feature songs that had never been recorded before. The album was released as a double-album titled Then and Now in 2001. ?????? ?? was the band's first album without one single track titled "A". The album also contained a previously unreleased track "Kari-Anne".

By 2003, Toto had begun to decline in popularity. The fourth album, Old Is New, was a commercial failure, and the vocalist Williams was suffering from a serious case of laryngitis which hampered his singing. Hungate also returned to Nashville and Leland Sklar's drumming was replaced by Shem Von Schroeck.

Downes and the other members of Asia--Wetton, Palmer, and Howe--convened an event in England in early 2006 to discuss the possibility of officially reforming the group. The lineup, which was minus Howe (who was busy with Yes at the time) was later referred to as Toto XIV and toured extensively.

In 2010, the band reunited for another reunion tour with a slightly different line-up, including guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather, drummer John Pierce, bassist Shannon Forrest, and multi-instrumentalists Warren Ham and Dominique Taplin. The band also had a special appearance by singer Michael McDonald and a backing vocalist named Mabvuto Carver.
