If you're looking to keep baby as close as you can at night, without having to get out of the bed, a crib that is placed beside your bed is the best option. The breathable fabric allows you to easily see your baby, and they're easy to lower for those tired 3am feeds.

Some double as a moses basket, as well.

What is a bedside cot?

A bedside crib (also known as bassinet or co-sleeper) is a small baby crib that is attached to your adult bed, allowing your newborn to sleep comfortably next to you. It is a safe method of co-sleeping that doesn't increase your risk of SIDS, like bedsharing. It can also help you bond with your newborn baby.

These cots often have a side that can be adjusted so that you can easily reach your newborn at night to feed and comforting. This is especially useful for mums recovering from a c-section. Many of them are portable or foldable so you can use them for trips and as an interim solution for babies who aren't ready to transition into a full-sized crib.

When shopping for a bedside crib Look for a crib with a comfortable mattress and a cover to protect your newborn from staining. You may also want to purchase some baby-safe accessories like a blanket or teether.

If you are looking for a more long-term solution cribs are available with conversion kits that let you transform them into a toddler bed or cot at the time that is appropriate. This is great for extending their lifespan and making the transition more seamless. Some models have a removable portion at the top that can be transformed into an infant bed. Others can be used with either a regular adult bed or a high-rise bed. This is a great option for families who intend to travel frequently or switch between bedrooms in the evening. You should also think about the size of your bedroom to ensure you can fit the crib in comfortably. Many cribs have a riser that can be added to create an incline for babies who have reflux.

The Joie Roomie Glide

Famous for their high-end baby products English brand Joie has stepped into the world of cribs for bedside use with the Roomie Glide. It is designed to allow parents to bond with their children while sleeping side by side without sharing a bed this co-sleeper has features that make bonding between parents and babies easy, safe and enjoyable.

A gentle rocking motion can be activated by pressing the button. This gentle rhythm can help soothe your baby to sleep without disrupting their normal sleep patterns. This is ideal for older babies and toddlers who struggle to settle. It can aid in digestion problems such as reflux and colic.

The crib can be locked into it once the rocking is done to stop it moving. It can also be secured to the side of your bed with clips and straps. funny post makes the crib sturdy and secure which allows you to rest soundly without worrying that your baby might roll off into the middle. The rounded cocoon shape comes with softly padded sides and two mesh windows on both ends to allow for plenty of airflow while protecting your baby.

The mattress is firm and comfortable and comes with an easily removable cover. The aluminium frame is light and lightweight, making the crib extremely mobile and easy to put together. The four wheels that are rubber-covered and lockable ensure that the crib does not leave marks on your flooring and are easy to move. The crib is easy to clean due to the fabric that wipes clean and can be easily packed in a bag for overnight stays.

The TuttiBambini Air

The airflow mattress is a premium model that provides a comfortable sleep surface while ventilators ensure your baby is kept cool. There are 6 different height settings, including an incline setting to aid with congestion and reflux.

The Tutti Bambini COZee air crib has a fabric that can be removed and a wipe-clean lining. This makes it easier to clean than some bedside cribs that can be a mess to clean. Additionally, it comes with a top bar that can be easily adjusted to feed at night without having to fiddle with zips in the dark.

Anna discovered that the CoZee was a comfortable and safe place to sleep for her baby. She was pleased that it didn't move like other models, which meant she wasn't woken up in the night trying to comfort her child during feedings. She also liked that the sides of the chair could be lowered so that she didn't have to reach over her partner to lift the child out for nighttime feedings.

The CoZee is available in oak or charcoal and is a stylish addition to any bedroom. It looks more designer than other cribs we've seen, which are often quite utilitarian. It's also quite lightweight at just 11kg and comes with a carry case that allows you to take it with you on vacation or when moving house. You'll need an extra waterproof sheet and safety strap to sleep with your partner. The instructions and illustrations are simple to follow once you open the box.

The Maxi-Cosi Lora

The Iora is a bedside bassinet that allows parents to feel more connected to their infant as they sleep. It adjusts upwards and downwards and can be moved through three slide positions to fit beside the bed of the parent or in the corner of the room, so that the baby is always close to the parent's side. The mesh siding is breathable, allowing air to flow through and lets you glance at your baby. And you can store additional pajamas and other items in the large storage basket underneath.

As opposed to other bedside cribs Iora is a standout among other bedside cribs. Iora can be folded flat and comes with a travel bag to allow it to be carried anywhere. Our mom testers found it easy to move from room to room and felt it was a great size for a small bedside cot, not too big or small. The large storage basket is great to store bedding and nappies.

This is a great choice for parents who wish to sleep together, but don't wish to share their bed. If one of the partners has mobility issues, such as back pain or arthritis. Our mom testers love the fact that they can easily access their child in the Iora, and that it comes with an optional reflux incline to aid in reducing gas.

Our mothers are also thrilled that the mattress is in line with NICE guidelines, which are to place the baby in the crib or Moses basket on its own (with no blankets, toys pillows, etc.). The mattress is also sturdy and comfortable for babies, and sheets are easy to find. It's not as light as some of the cribs that are smaller on our list, so if prefer something lighter and easier to move, choose another alternative.
