Vacuuming With a Robot Hoover is the Best Hands-Off Model We've Tested

This premium Eufy bot is the most hands off model we have tested so far. It vacuums, mops, and self-empties its bin, washes and dry mop pads without you having to do anything.

It doesn't feature advanced cleaning modes or a bigger docking system, but it offers outstanding performance for less than half the price of top-end robotic vacuums. It also features a compact design that can be able to reach under furniture.

Vacuuming

Vacuuming with a robot hoover is a fast, simple way to keep your floors clean and tidy. Many of the robots we've picked are built to operate without any involvement from you, so you can set them up to clean while you're away, or even trigger a session from your smartphone. You'll need to choose a robot with excellent navigation and object detection in order to avoid getting stuck under furniture or falling down the stairs.

It is essential to choose the right robot vacuum to effectively and efficiently clean all kinds of flooring. Look for a model with dust bins that can hold plenty of dirt between emptying and a nozzle that does not lose suction as it rotates to remove debris.

Most robots require little to no maintenance other than removing tangled hair from the rotating brush (and wiping its sensors or cameras, as needed) after each cleaning session and periodically emptying the dust bin or using an automatic emptying base when the robot is equipped with one. If you follow these easy maintenance steps, your robot vacuum should last as long as full-size vacuums and help keep your home tidy for longer.

While robot mops are generally less versatile than vacuums Some have the ability to suck up the puddles and spills while they're working. The iLife V3s Pro is an example of a machine which is a solid choice for people with hardwood floors or a mix of rugs and carpets. It's quiet and has excellent navigation capabilities that have helped it avoid obstacles during testing, and the charging dock can also double as a trash bin.

Pick a robot vacuum cleaner that has the ability to mop at the same time. This is what the Karcher RCV 5 can do and it comes with additional useful features, such as live cameras that send an unreliable image to your app so that you can monitor your children or pets and also a remote control that is easily programmed. The navigation might not be as efficient as the other models on this list however, its 500ml dustbin is spacious and doesn't need frequent emptying.

Mopping

Robots that vacuum and mop are relatively new to the market. These robots are more expensive and require a separate tank of water compared to standalone robots. However, they might be worth the extra cost for those with stains that are difficult to clean or pets.

Some of the top robots that mop and vacuum also do an excellent job cleaning floors with no carpets. There are many brands that offer robots that can perform both tasks very well. The Combo J9+ is one of the most efficient mopping machines that we've tested. It has docks that can hold up to 60 days' worth of debris. This is a huge improvement over the Qrevo Pro which ran out water after mopping only 30 days of dirt during our tests.

The Tapo RV30 plus from networking giant TP-Link is a great two-in-one. It's quiet, compact, and has a neat, easy-to-clean appearance. In our test rooms, it cleaned the floors efficiently and thoroughly - it was particularly effective in cleaning rugs, but it took several runs to clean certain areas of soiled wooden. Its LIDAR navigation is very effective as well. It avoids bumping into furniture and running over power cables.

It's a bit sluggish on the stairs however, that's to be expected from a small robot that's designed to work around obstacles. The only drawback is that its mopping pads are fiddly to attach and didn't stay in place during our tests, and it does not have the capability to deal with dried-on dirt, which makes it more of a vacuum cleaner instead of a full-fledged mop.

It's still a great choice for people who prefer a hands-off experience and want to clean low-pile or bare carpets equally well. It offers a decent amount of suction, which helped it to clean fine dust and pet hair from carpets. A good feature is its automatic carpet recognition which enhances the effectiveness of the vacuum to better tackle embedded dirt. It's also user-friendly and comes with a convenient charging dock that automatically empties the dust bin when it's filled, which is a huge benefit for flat dwellers.

Cleaning Apps

The majority of robot vacuums, mop and sweepers have an application that allows you to modify cleaning routines. You can also choose rooms to be cleaned, plan cleaning sessions and change settings like suction, the amount of water and scrubbing power. Certain robots have intelligent dirt detection that utilizes maps and cleaning data to determine the most soiled areas.

A smartphone app can also allow you to create virtual barriers and no-go zones to protect your robot from potentially hazardous items, such as cords, pet water bowls, and sharp objects. Some models allow you to create these virtual barriers using laser navigation sensors, and others come with small physical boundaries or barriers which you can put wherever you'd like to block your floor.

There are still hazards to be aware of even though the best robot vacuum s can detect and maneuver around obstacles. The primary brush of a robot can get stuck in long cords or curtains and stop it from moving. To prevent this from happening, you can clear the area of cords and tie up any long curtains.

Certain robots automatically update the software that controls their navigation and obstacle avoidance techniques, which enhances performance and reduces wear and tear on the robot's internal components. It is a good idea to regularly to check the site of the manufacturer or your robot app for updates to firmware.

If you live in a huge home, you should choose one that comes with several cleaning modes. The iRobot Roomba 11S Max can mop and vacuum on hard and carpeted floors using different suction settings. It also has the ability to automatically change to the highest power setting for carpets and increase its scrubbing capabilities with SmartScrub.

If you're looking to remain hands-off, a robot with a voice-activated assistant is an excellent choice. The iRobot Roomba 980, for example, can be operated using a simple voice command from Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant. It is equipped with a compact self-emptying docking system and a powerful cleaning motor that will leave your floors sparkling.
