The Pokemon Upgrade Item - A Special Evolution Item That Helps Trainers Evolve Certain Pokemon Into More Powerful Forms


The upgrade item is an evolution item that allows trainers to transform certain Pokemon in more powerful forms. It is made by a company called Silph Co.

This item is a rare find and players can acquire it by spinning Photo Discs at PokeStops and Gyms.

It provides a set of extra bonuses and features an upgrade track that limits how high the item can be upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools in order to provide them with an additional bonus to their attributes, or an additional effect, while they are being used. They can be acquired through crafting, purchased from vendors or at the trading post, looted or received as rewards. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Upgrade components fall into two categories: universal and type-restricted. Universal upgrades, such as gemstones, are able to be placed in any equipment. Type-restricted improvements, like inscriptions, have to be installed on specific types of equipment in order to unlock their bonuses.

Certain upgrade components can only be recovered by using a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or Ascended Salvage Tool. Ascended armor or legendary gear could contain upgrade components which can only be salvaged using an Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Tool. Upgrades slotted into an item can't be substituted with other upgrades of the same type with the exception of glyphs that can be freely swapped in and out of gathering tools.

Glyphs may be replaced by other glyphs. The upgraded item will show the original upgrade as well as the new one when hovering over it. Inscriptions can add their own names to the item they modify. This can be seen when you right-click the upgraded weapon.

Glyphs

Glyphs are the symbols of a font that are activated to give additional text features. They are typically built on icons or other symbols that are visually associated with the idea they represent, but they can also be completely abstract. Unicode defines the glyphs, and assigns an identifier for each symbol. This lets them appear in different fonts. Certain glyphs have multiple forms, including swashes and small caps. Some glyphs only have one form, like the capital letter A. The Glyphs Panel comes with a search field that lets you to search by a glyph's name, CID or GID or Unicode value. You can also use the context menu of the symbol to create a brand new character or alter the glyph.

You can choose the font that will be used in a set of glyphs from the Glyphs panel's context menu. You can also choose to remember a particular font when you add an new glyph. If a glyph has more than one font, the Glyphs panel will display the fonts available in pink.

The glyph metrics of a font influence the layout of text. For instance the glyph could have an advance width that is the length of space it occupies from its point of origin to the end of the font. The glyph might also have side bearings, which are white spaces on the right and left sides of a font. These side bearings, also known as kernings affect how the font appears in the document.

Glyphs can be upgraded at the Glyph Upgrade Altar, which is located in the Nightmare Dungeons. Each Nightmare Dungeon has a specific duration of time that must be completed, following which the Glyph Upgrade altar will be revealed.
