Buy Category B1 Driving License

A Buy Category B1 Driving License permits you to drive a vehicle that has a maximum authorised mass (MAM) of more than 3,500kg. You can also operate a trailer that weighs up to 750kg.

These vehicles offer notable environmental and economic benefits. They are economical and consume less fuel than traditional automobiles.

Validity period

The validity period of a B1 driving license is two years. However, it may be shorter if you suffer from certain health issues that hinder your capacity to safely drive. Diabetes, heart disease mental illnesses, and other chronic health issues are included. In these situations you'll have to visit an expert to obtain a medical certificate. The certificate must be renewed regularly.

A B licence grants you the ability to drive cars however, it is not able to permit you to operate motorcycles, with the exception of the Czech Republic (only those with automatic and semi-automatic transmission), Latvia, Slovakia, Spain, and Portugal (after two years). You must be at the age of 17 years old to get an official driving license however, if you are receiving Disability Living Allowance at the higher rate, you may apply for a provisional licence at the age of 15 years old.

If you are a driver with a category B licence, you can also drive quad bikes and motor tricycles with three or four wheels and can carry a maximum of 550 kg. Mopeds can be driven with two, three or even four wheels. However, you shouldn't tow a trailer which is greater than the weight of your vehicle.

On January 19, 2013 the third European Union Directive on driving licenses entered into force. This new directive affects bus, car and lorry drivers as well those who tow trailers. It also sets stricter towing limits for older drivers.

You must also pass an additional test if you wish to drive a vehicle that has a kerbweight greater than 3.5 tonnes. To be able to get your license you must pass the Category C test and satisfy the other requirements.

If you are a driver with an authorised category B license, the new law allows you to tow a trailer that has the maximum authorized mass (MAM) of up to 3500 kilograms. The DVLA hopes to amend the law so that drivers can already have this entitlement. However, until then, drivers must pass a BE test.

Medical exam

Mock theory test

If you're considering getting a Buy Category B1 Driving License You'll need to pass both the theory test and the driving exam. It's a great idea to practice some mock tests prior to the date of your test. This will help you prepare. These will aid you in establishing the exam format and practice answering questions under pressure. These tests are also a great tool to identify areas where you could improve.

The test for theory comprises 50 questions from the official test and takes 57 minutes to complete. You will need to choose the correct answer from four options for each question. Insurance

If you are a category B driver and is looking to drive larger vehicles you can upgrade your category of licence. The B1 license permits you to drive four-wheel motor vehicles that weigh up to 400kg without cargo, or 550kg with cargo. It also permits you to drive trailers that are smaller.

The Category AM allows mopeds to be driven by two or three wheels that can reach speeds of up to 28mph, and a mass of 350kg. (Excluding batteries for electric vehicles). You'll need to pass the Compulsory Basic Training test prior to getting this category. It's worth noting that you can only have one of these categories on your licence at a time.

The maximum permitted mass of a vehicle is printed on the registration certificate. It is also available it on the DVLA website. A vehicle that has an increased MAM requires a Category BE licence to operate however a vehicle with a lower MAM can be driven using a Category B or B+E licence.

You can also get higher categories added to your licence by passing a test for the category you'd like to drive. You can, for instance, get a category B licence by passing the test for medium-sized trucks. If you're already a category B licence holder, you may add the category for up to 10 years after passing the test.
