The Band Toto

Toto is often criticized for being too polished or calculating. However, when they perform live, the band exhibits a more raw intensity. Guitarist-extraordinaire Steve Lukather demonstrates why he is considered one of the best session musicians in the business.

Albums

Toto's discography consists of 13 studio albums and 4 live albums. There are also a few compilations. Toto has released original music and collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The group has won a number of Grammy Awards for their work.

Before the formation of Toto, band members did sessions for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate, and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session percussionist Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in 1976 in the wake of the collaboration.

Toto's third album, Turn Back, marked a departure from the more progressive sound of their previous albums and was criticized for its lack of hit singles. In 1985, the group's lead singer Fergie Fredericksen resigned, and the band held auditions to find a replacement frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the group recorded their album Fahrenheit in 1986.

Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to celebrate its 20th anniversary. The band dug through old recordings and tapes to create the unique record. The album was well received by fans and the band embarked on a tour with former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro, and Joseph Williams.

While touring for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun, drummer Leland Sklar departed from the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set titled Falling in Between, which included recordings from the tour as well as an interview with Toto.

Toto is a rock band from the United States. It was formed in Van Nuys in Greater Los Angeles in 1977. The group consists of Steve Lukather (vocalist/guitarist), David Paich (bassist), Steve Porcaro (keyboardist/vocalist), Jeff Porcaro and Joseph Williams, guitarist/vocalist. The diverse mix of influences in the group has made it one of the most well-known groups of all time. The music of the group has been featured in more than 200 movies and TV shows, including The Godfather and The Prince of Egypt.

In 1983 the group released Toto IV, which earned them worldwide acclaim. The band embarked on a world-wide tour to support the album after its success. The tour was interrupted when Bobby Kimball, the lead singer, was arrested on drug charges. At ?????? of the tour, the band decided to let him go and hired guitarist and singer Joseph Williams to take his place. Drummer David Hungate also left the band after the tour. Leland Sklar was his replacement.

The TOTO Museum is an impressive futuristic building that has several exhibit rooms that are devoted to telling the story about the company and its most innovative product. The exhibits include toilets, faucets, and tableware that have supported the expansion of the TOTO brand over the past half century. The museum also features special exhibits throughout the year.

Toto has released a number of music videos. The band has released a number of compilation videos and DVDs. ????? of the band is "Africa", which has more than one billion views on YouTube. The video is set in a library and features the group performing on top of a pile of books about Africa.

The track "Africa" is from the album Toto IV. It was written by band members and produced by David Paich. It was a huge success in Europe and a variety of other countries. The success of the single helped Toto to regain their popularity after their previous album Turn Back failed to chart in America.

Toto began a global tour after the release of their album. The group featured touring musicians Lenny Castro and Shannon Forrest. Warren Ham, Shem von Schröeck, and Shem von Schroeck were also in the group. Steve Lukather also released his second solo album, Luke.

In 1985, Fergie Frederiksen, Toto's drummer, quit the group for personal reasons. Toto held an audition to find an alternative for Frederiksen.

Before and during the time of Toto's creation the members of the group worked as session musicians for a diverse range of artists. Toto was founded following Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and Boz Scaggs recorded Silk Degrees. Keyboardist Paich was a regular on records by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, and Sonny and Cher.

In 1998, Toto started working on a project entitled Old Is New. The album featured three new tracks and several completed recordings of old songs. The album was a global success and the band went on tour to promote it.

Toto, known for the popular song "Africa" Recently, the band reunited to promote their new album, All In. The album came out on November 6, 2018 and featured three new songs from the upcoming 40 Trips Around the Sun, and also recorded versions of four older tracks featuring Jeff Porcaro on drums and either Mike or Steve Porcaro on bass. The album also included the cover version of Weezer's track "Hash Pipe," which the band added after hearing it on the radio.

Toto has a museum that is dedicated to its history and products. The museum is located in Kokura in Kitakyushu. The museum is accessible to the public and includes numerous exhibit rooms. The members of Toto have performed with artists such as Steely Dan, Quincy Jones, Eric Clapton, Michael McDonald, Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band, Los Lobotomys, Boz Scaggs, Seals and Crofts, Larry Carlton, Earth, Wind & Fire, Yes, Eddie Van Halen, David Foster, Yoso, Los Lobos and Richard Page. Additionally, the group has recorded soundtracks for numerous television and film productions.

Toto was formed in Los Angeles, California by friends from high school, David Paich, Steve Lukather and brothers Jeff and Mike Porcaro. The group has sold more than 40 million albums and is among the most listened-to bands around the globe. They continue to play sold-out shows around the world and has been awarded numerous awards and accolades. Toto's members are serious about their music, but they don't take themselves too seriously. This has led to their success.
