The Band Toto

Albums

The discography of the American rock group Toto includes 13 studio albums, 4 live albums, and a number of compilations. In addition to releasing original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists as well as on soundtracks for films. The group has won multiple Grammy Awards.

Before the formation of Toto, band members did session work for other musicians. David Paich, the son of drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all played on Boz Scaggsalbum in 1975 Silk Degrees. The collaboration led to the formation of Toto in the year 1976.

Turn Back, Toto's third studio album, was criticized by critics for the absence of hit singles. In 1985 the group's lead singer Fergie Fredericksen resigned The band held auditions to find a replacement frontman. The band picked guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in the year 1986.

In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by scouring through old tapes and demos to release a special record called Toto XX. The album was well-received by fans, and Toto began a tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.

While touring for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun the drummer Leland Sklar departed from the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included live recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the group.

Toto is a rock group from the United States. It was formed in Van Nuys in Greater Los Angeles in 1977. The group is comprised of six members: guitarist/vocalist Steve Lukather, bassist David Paich and keyboardist/vocalist Steve Porcaro, drummer Jeff Porcaro and guitarist and vocalist Joseph Williams. The band's diverse mix of influences has made them one of the most well-known bands of all time. The music of the band has been featured in more than 200 movies and TV shows including The Godfather and The Prince of Egypt.

In 1983 the band released Toto IV, which earned an international recognition. Following the album's success the group embarked on a world tour in support of it. The tour was interrupted when Bobby Kimball, the lead singer, was detained for drug-related charges. The band decided to let him go at the end of the tour, and they hired singer/guitarist Joseph Williams in his place. Drummer David Hungate also left the band following the tour. He was replaced by bassist Leland Sklar.

The TOTO Museum is an impressive futuristic building that has several rooms devoted to telling the story of the company and its most innovative product. Its exhibits include toilets faucets and tableware that have contributed to the growth of the TOTO brand over the past half century. The museum has special exhibits throughout the year round.

Toto has produced a number of music videos. The band has released a variety of compilation videos and DVDs. The band's most popular video is "Africa", with over one billion views. The video is set in a library, and shows the band performing in front of a stack of books about Africa.

The track "Africa" is a track from the album Toto IV, was written by the members of the band and was produced by David Pich. The song was written by members of the band and produced David Paich. It was a huge success in Europe and other countries. The success of the single helped Toto get back into the limelight after their previous album, Turn Back, failed to chart in the United States.

Toto embarked on a worldwide tour following the release their album. The group included touring musicians Lenny Castro, Shannon Forrest, Warren Ham and Shem von Schroeck. In addition guitarist Steve Lukather released his second solo album, Luke.

In 1985, Fergie Frederiksen, Toto's drummer, left Toto due to personal reasons. Toto decided to conduct an audition and eventually chose Joseph Williams to replace Frederiksen.

Before and during the formation of Toto, its members did sessions for various artists. Toto was founded following Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and Boz Scaggs recorded Silk Degrees. Paich played keyboards on Steely Dan's records, Seals and Crofts and Sonny and Cher.

In 1998, Toto started working on an album titled Old Is New. The album featured three new tracks as well as a number of finished recordings of songs from the past. The album was a global hit and the band toured on tour to promote it.

Toto, known for the hit single "Africa" Recently, the band came together to promote their latest album, All In. The album debuted on November 6, 2018, and included three songs from the forthcoming 40 Trips Around the Sun, plus completed recordings of four older tracks featuring Jeff Porcaro on drums and either Mike or Steve Porcaro on bass. The album also included the cover version of Weezer's song “Hash Pipe” which the band re-released after hearing it on the radio.

Toto members have performed with artists like Steely Dan, Quincy Jones, Eric Clapton, Michael McDonald, Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band, Los Lobotomys, Boz Skaggs, Seals and Crofts, Larry Carlton, Earth, Wind & Fire, Yes, Eddie Van Halen, David Foster, Yoso, Los Lobos, and Richard Page. In addition, the group has recorded soundtracks for numerous television and film productions.

Toto was founded in Los Angeles by high school age friends drummer David Paich, guitarist Steve Lukather and brothers Jeff and Mike Porcaro. The group has sold more than 40 million albums and is among the most well-known bands in the world. The band continues to play sold-out concerts worldwide and has won numerous awards and honors. Toto's members take their music seriously, but don't take themselves all that seriously. This has been a key factor in their success.
