The Best Robot Hoover

The most effective robot hoover will clean and mop without requiring your attention. It leaves your floors spotless. Its price is affordable and its high-end features (such as a dirt detector) are positives.

Make sure to check your robot's brushes frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them if needed. Some models can also self-empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in a larger bin located at the base. This can reduce the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They have motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model) they employ smart mapping to create detailed floorplans and avoid household obstacles like cords and furniture leg. The robots also come with Carpet Boost, a feature that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our bare floor tests They're also particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work or at school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you need to change the mopping pad for a dry one in minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to ensure better cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and set up zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a room with carpet, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the task of cleaning a whole home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job cleaning a range of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds and cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming it, something hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxy units, this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive designs in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. robot vacuum hoover is thanks to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an intuitive mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work, or at night when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, though it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and more attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable however, it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that let you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection however this was not foolproof in our tests and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with the degree of dirt they are.

For larger houses, it's worth opting for one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home using the app or voice commands. A stair mode can be useful if you have a number of furniture. For families that are busy recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be extremely useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to organize the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for better performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it is more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we have test. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
