UPVC Replacement Door Handles

As time passes, the handles on your doors will get worn out and require replacement. In this case, it is essential that the new handles are in line with the dimensions of the old handle.

The top screw's position as well as the lever and keyhole dimensions are the three measurements that you need to verify. Refer to the size guide for assistance in this.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever handle or lever is a modern-day door handle designed to work with new or replacement doors. This type of handle is available in a variety of designs and finishes. A variety of manufacturers provide this handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The handles of uPVC/Composite are constructed of tough materials and are perfect for multi-point lock doors that require a robust design. The handles are inline and work off the same spindle and screw fixings. They can be easily incorporated into new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.

The handle can be positioned and angled to suit the needs of all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200,000 cycles. This helps to ensure that the quality of finish and performance will last for a long time. The sprung lever is also adjustable to accommodate a wide range of locks. This is particularly useful for doors with narrower openings where the cylinder is further away from the door. A shortened lever can also be used on doors that have a latch which can be operated with the thumb on the inside.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad upvc door handle operates differently than lever handles on doors. These handle types are either operated by a single spindle or by two spindles inline or offset. They are usually employed on UPVC double glazed doors and come in a variety of styles and finishes.

The handles have been tested to at least 200k cycles and are available in several finishes like White and Silver, as well as Chrome & Gold. The finish is in line with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, giving the handle a high level of durability and performance for the intended use.

All UPVC lever pads for handles include a spindle and screws and can be installed on a uPVC door. The backplate fixing centres of 211mm allow for a larger size handle that can often be a benefit when replacing a damaged or worn multi-point door lock mechanism. The levers for these handles have a spring, which solves the problem of door handles that sag out of their horizontal position when not being used.

When selecting the replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is crucial to match the PZ dimensions of both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement is also called the "handle centre" or "cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect of matching up the appropriate handles.

Once you have decided on the proper PZ size it is important to make sure that the push and lever pads are designed to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles you require for your door. They typically have rectangular or round in shape, with an internal lever and external push pad.

The majority of the UPVC Lever Pads that we sell are spring-loaded. This means they return to a horizontal state when not being used instead of hanging and possibly sticking in the frame. This helps prevent the draughts and cold air from entering a home. The majority of UPVC lever pad handles are available in left and right handed models that allow them to be placed on either side of the doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other kinds of doors. They work with a key to unlock a cylinder that is then revealed with pins that can be aligned with the pins inside the lock body, allow them to rotate a revolving cam, thus opening the door. Euro Cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins with both internal and external doors typically having different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder is crucial. It is based on the amount of use your doors and handles receive. For instance, doors that are external require a higher security cylinder, while doors inside can be secured with an ordinary cylinder. In addition, some cylinders come with additional features which can enhance security further, such as anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

A euro cylinder should be measured accurately to ensure it is the correct size for your door. The cylinder must be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, should there be one. It is best to do this while the lock is in place however, when this isn't feasible, you can take it off and remove it to measure. It is crucial to ensure that there is no extension of the cylinder beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to lock snapping attacks.

Most modern cylinders are constructed with bump and anti-drill features built into their design. They are designed to decrease the chance of a attack by causing the cylinder to rotate in the opposite direction. This will help to deflect attacks and ensure your door is secure.

Certain cylinders are made to resist snapping. This is a growing method of attack on cylinders where the break line inside the lock is targeted by a tool that is specially designed to break the front of the cylinder to allow the door to be opened. This is faster and more straightforward than opening multipoint locks and leaves no evidence of a burglary, which can impede the insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is situated within the base plate of the door handle. It offers a spring-loaded solution to help return your multipoint lock handles back to their original position after using. In the past, a lot of handles of this kind did not have a spring integrated into them, and without it they are more likely to slide or 'drop' once the locking mechanism has been disengaged. This simple part is the most effective way to fix this problem. It also stops your upvc door from becoming stuck in the closed or open position since they aren't easy to close manually.

These spring cassettes have been specifically made for use with multipoint locks sprung but they won't work with multipoint handles that are not sprung and you will require a hole specifically cut in your backplate in order for them to fit (please look at the image for a technical diagram). chippenham door handle repair are a replacement to damaged or missing cassettes that are in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are available as a single unit. They feature a square cut out that accommodates an 8mm shaft.

These spring cassettes are a fantastic value for money solution to the issue of door handles that are sagging. They are simple to install and will prolong the life span of your uPVC doors.
