Bedside Cots

Bedside cribs are also known as a bassinet or side sleeper. It is attached to the mattress of the parent and allows the baby to sleep in the same room. They're a secure method of co-sleeping and are great for mothers who are recovering from c-sections.

MFM tester Georgina found the Chicco Next2me Side Sleeping Crib to be very quick and easy to assemble (one of the fastest during testing). It can be adjusted in height and be tilted into an inclined position to assist reflux babies.

You're secure

Bedside cots or co-sleepers, as they are also known, are specially designed infant sleep solutions that let babies sleep close to their parents without the risk of SIDS. They're similar to Moses baskets or a standard baby cot, however, they attach to the side of the parent's bed and have one side that is open, allowing parents to access their sleeping newborn. They're perfect for families who want to enjoy the benefits of co-sleeping, but are concerned about the risks associated with bed sharing.

Many people are concerned about the safety of an infant bassinet or bedside sleeping device, but CHOICE has discovered that when used in a safe manner these products are safe and have a low incidence of accidents and injuries. They are also a good choice for parents who are struggling with exhaustion from night feedings and early morning diaper changes. Bedside cribs allow you to keep an eye on your child and, if they wake awake in the night or call you to be there for them you'll be able help them sleep or change their nappy quickly.

If you are looking for a bedside cot that's secure, select one with an upholstered mattress that is durable and breathable. A mattress that is breathable will help to regulate your baby's temperature and stop them from overheating. Also, you should purchase a fitted mattress that can be fitted to your mattress as well as a nappies changing kit with a waterproof cover and a wipeable mat. You can purchase all these items online and at stores that specialize in baby products. You should never use second-hand or hand-me-down products. They could have been recalled, damaged or not up to safety standards.

A high-quality bedside crib is easy to assemble and is easily removed when not in use. Some models can be adjusted to incline positions that make it easier for children to sleep in a raised position or for parents suffering from reflux. Some models come with a travel bag, so you can easily pack them up and take them on a excursion.

They're easy to clean

Bedside cots are simple to clean, particularly when using the right products. Remove any bedding such as sheets, blankets or toys that are cuddly and wash them according to the manufacturer's instructions. Vacuum the cot, including its mattress. Pay special attention to crevices and corners. A mattress protector is also beneficial to reduce the accumulation of dust mites and other germs.

Then step, use a soft washcloth that has been soaked in a baby-safe cleaning spray or a natural stain remover spray to clean the cot. Use a clean, fresh cloth regularly to clean soapy residue and keep the surface as clean as you can. If the mattress has staining, use a gentle scrub brush to treat them and a bit of baking soda to eliminate any lingering odours. Always test a small area of the mattress first to make sure the cleaning product is safe for your baby.

her response is easier to clean and sanitize the cot if it has been disassembled. You can also make use of a solution of warm water and mild baby-safe detergent to clean the mattress and its protector.

If the cot is constructed out of wood, you can sanitise it with a mixture of warm water and white vinegar. This natural disinfectant will kill bacteria without leaving harmful residues or causing damage to the wood. Test a small portion of wood to make sure it isn't damaged. Apply the solution with a soft clean cloth, then let it dry before reassembling.

They're easy to move

A bedside crib, also known as a co-sleeper, or bedside bassinet is a specially designed infant sleep solution that allows your child to sleep beside your bed. These cribs are portable, compact and easy to move around. They are also ideal if your home is small or you plan on traveling with your child.

Bedside cribs, unlike regular cribs for babies, are designed to attach on the side of your mattress so that you can easily move your infant up and down to feed them at night or soothe. These cribs are designed with a removable or drop-down side for easy lifting. They also come with adjustable heights and tilts. Some cribs can be converted into full cot-beds when your child grows. This gives you more longevity and value.

Our mom testers are enthralled by the lightweight and portable nature of these sleeping solutions, which makes them perfect for travel. One mum says, "It is small and compact so it can easily be moved around the home and fit into its own bag." "My husband is able to carry it up and down without difficulty."

The Shnuggle Air alongside Crib is a lighter option that's been shortlisted for the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards in the Best Cot, Moses Basket or Crib category. Another mum, Gulhan Arapoglu, agrees that it's easy to move and feels it's strong too. She also says it's a bit larger than other cradles that are used for bedside use and isn't recommended for children who might flip or roll.

You'll be at ease

The best bedside cribs allow babies to sleep with their parents, but in a separate sleeping space. They're usually more compact than a Moses Basket or a standard crib and can be folded and put away when not in use. It's also easier to reach for feeds, diaper changes and soothing. This makes them perfect for mothers who are recovering from a csection because they don't have to bend down as far to look after their infant in the middle of the night.

The crib is also a good option for parents who are worried about the risks associated with co-sleeping. This is because the crib is situated closer to the parent's bed and is less prone to the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) than co-sleeping in a standard bassinet or cot. This kind of safe co-sleeping referred to as "rooming in" is important for the development of a baby.

You can also purchase bedsides in a variety of styles. Some come with an inflatable bed that you can carry with you on your travels or even be transformed into a baby cot or toddler's bed. Some bedsides come with inclined positions that are ideal for babies suffering from reflux. Based on your requirements and budget, you can also find a bedside crib that attaches to the bed of the parent or has locking wheels so it can't be moved accidentally while the baby is asleep.

If you're interested in sleeping in a bed it's important to choose one with a strong and breathable baby mattress to ensure your little one's safety. We recommend a foam mattress that's covered with a soft, durable cover. This will ensure that your baby will be comfortable and warm while they're sleeping.

Some bedsides are also simple to slide and collapse which is perfect for those morning feeds when you're bleary-eyed. The Joie Roomie Glide, shortlisted for the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards in the Best Cot, Moses Basket or Crib category, is a fantastic example of a bedside crib that is easy to lower. It's also compact enough to fit into its bag for travel, which is a bonus for busy parents traveling.
