Narwal Freo X Ultra The Freo X Ultra, a highly rated and extremely functional Gen 4 robotic vacuum and mop, is a well made machine. The price of $1400 could be a bit steep, however, it is usually on sale to make it more affordable. The unit looks great and the base station takes up very little space in a corner of a room. The design of this robot is able to address some of the issues we've had with other robotic mop and vacuum units, such as the brushes getting tangled in hair, or the brush not being able to reach floors with no furniture. The performance of the sweeper on carpets and floors that are not covered is also impressive. The vacuum/mop features a high level debris pickup and the mop will quickly soak up flooring. The mops also use an intelligent system to clean along the edges of furniture and around walls. The robot can handle the largest obstacles such as food bowls, toys, shoes, and backpacks with any issue. But it can get stuck or get caught up in smaller and less hefty objects like shoelaces, USB cables, and pen. We utilized this robot to vacuum and mop a mix of pile carpet tiles, FLOR rugs and hardwood floors in an open, large floor plan. With FREO Mind enabled, it cleaned and mopped the 90m2 space in around 170 minutes, which is close to average for Gen 4. Several features distinguish this robot from other models in its class. Freo X Ultra is equipped with numerous improvements in terms of sensors, software, and hardware to keep it on top of its class. It has been declared to have an autonomy of 3.5 hours for environments of up to 260m2. You can customize multiple features of the Freo app, such as how often the robot returns to the base station the frequency of mopping, as well as power (silent or smart), and its mopping humidity. The app can even detect heavily soiled areas and create an efficient cleaning route, as well as dispensing detergent or raising the carpet's pads. Other notable features include a simple-to-read display on the robot’s underside and a dock door that is easy to open. The Freo X Ultra is the most efficient vacuum and mop for homeowners and apartment owners who are looking to reduce their chores, while keeping their home clean and tidy. Miele Scout RX3 Miele isn't a joke in the world of robot vacuums and is known for its quality and innovation. This new robot aims to take that to the next level, with innovative features and top-of-the-line cleaning performance. The RX3 has a dual suction system, intelligent navigation with 3D mapping and a camera which sends live images to your smartphone for simple control. The RX3's powerful four-stage system is excellent for dust collection on carpets and hard floors. Swing-out side brushes, dual suction channels and a user-friendly interface clean corners. The 8.5 cm height lets it fit under furniture that is low, and front cameras and infrared sensors help it navigate around obstacles and thresholds with ease. The Scout RX3 impressed us in our tests on how well it was able to clean baking powder from corners and baseboards. Its suction power of 2,500Pa was a little weaker than other robots, but it was able to move quickly and was extremely quiet. It didn't mop, however and its cleaning pads were fiddly to attach and couldn't cope with dirt that had dried on. Its app isn't equipped with advanced features such as multiple cleaning modes or automated scheduling. It works with Alexa however its voice commands don't seem to be very intuitive or responsive. And it's also a little difficult when it comes to getting back to the charging station after a run -- other robots can trace a previous path or sensibly follow a wall until they get to their destination, but the RX3 is a fumbler until it gives up and sends a failure message to your phone. We also had issues with the intelligent features of the device, including its mapping feature and the digital stay-out zones. While it did a great job of keeping away from our shoes and furniture legs, it got easily hung up by cables and socks and couldn't handle the tassels of rugs. That's the reason we didn't choose to include it in our Best Buy list. However, with a reasonable price and a dazzling performance it's a Scout RX3 is worth considering when you're looking for a smarter alternative to the traditional uprights.
