Greg Phillinganes replaced David Paich as keyboardist following this tour. Bassist David Hungate also departed, leaving Lukather as the only original member of Toto.

After the release of Toto IV, bassist David Hungate left the group to concentrate on his family and was replaced by Shem Von Schroeck. The band released a live album called Isolation in 1985. It included an orchestra and sounded much like their studio albums. Following the Isolation Tour the guitarist Steve Lukather decided to bring the addition of a second vocalist and keyboardist. They auditioned a number of musicians, including Fergie Frederiksen before settling on Joseph Williams.

Toto released Old Is New in 2018 and began a world tour to promote the album. They were joined by touring musicians Lenny Castro, Shannon Forrest, Warren Ham, and Shem von Schroeck. The band also performed a cover version of George Harrison's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" in response to Weezer's cover of the song.

The Toto Freedom Tour 2024 kicks off on February 8 in Biloxi and will stop in Raleigh, Louisville, Omaha, Las Vegas, and more, before wrapping up on April 29 in Bridgeport, CT. Toto is one the most loved bands in the world. Toto is synonymous with musical credibility. With over 35 millions records sold around the world and collaborations with some of the most renowned performers in the world (Stevie Wonder Michael Jackson Elton John Paul McCartney Steel Dan), Toto's popularity has increased. Toto is currently working on an album of their own and has announced that they will perform live at the Zenith de Paris - La Villette on February 12, 2025.
