Lever/lever

Not only will the finish of the handles add to the appearance of your space, but it also affects the level of security you'll need. It is relatively easy to change the door handle. The majority of homeowners can replace their handles in about five minutes.

Before you begin this process, it is important to make sure that the door is closed and secure so you can work in a safe manner. The next step is to remove the handle and the cylinder lock. After the handle and cylinder lock are removed, you will need mark the screw holes on the back plate. This will help you determine the precise location to screw the replacement handle into the correct position. Once marked you can then use these measurements to order the suitable handle for your uPVC door.

The screws, levers and pad spindles go through the lock case that is located inside the door. So, you can't simply swap one handle with another without making sure they're properly matched. It is crucial to take accurate measurements when buying new handles.

You'll need to determine the PZ dimension (centre of the euro cylinder hole) and the top Screw to Spindle distance. You'll then need to find the perfect uPVC door handles for your property. To help with this we have produced a handy door handle measurement guide that will show you exactly what to look out for when measuring your uPVC door.

Lever handles are the most sought-after type of door handle. They are available in a variety of different styles and finishes. For instance, you could find graphite, brushed nickel, oil-rubbed bronze and matte black handles to match your interior. These handles are suitable for both business and residential applications. They are available on a variety uPVC doors of various sizes and styles.

If you wish to make your uPVC doors to be more secure, you'll need to choose an option with a locking mechanism. This adds an extra layer of security to your home, and is especially useful for external doors. There are many locks available for these handles that include keyed alike as well as fake door locks.

Some lever handle sets are reversible, meaning they can be used on either side of the door. Some lever handle sets are reverse-able, while others aren't. You will need to purchase specifically for the direction of your door. We recommend checking that any lever set you buy is handed prior to ordering, as some brands such as Schlage only supply reversible handles for standard doors.

Un-sprung

These upvc door handles are not spring-loaded. They rely on the force applied to them by the latch/multi-point lock to return their lever to their horizontal position following use. This is less effective over time, causing the handles to drop.

If you're having an issue with the handle, the spring inside the cassette is likely to wear out and needs to be replaced. You can test this by taking off the handle, then pressing the lever. If the handles begin to droop, this indicates that they have lost their spring force and it is essential to install heavy-duty latches and locks along with the replacement conservatory door handles to prevent this happening.

The majority of replacement handles are sprung multipoint with the spring cassette positioned in the back plate and holding the lever. These handles work with the standard tubular or multi-point latch to ensure that door handles return horizontally after use. This is a crucial feature as it can be difficult to operate handles that aren't in the optimal position if they fail to return to their original position.

There are a few upvc handles that aren't equipped with the spring cassette. These will need to be fitted heavy duty locks/latches. These are more frequent on older doors made of upvc where the handles have not been upgraded for many years.

Once you have the correct handle type selected and it is the correct length to suit your upvc doors, it is simply an issue of fitting it in accordance with the directions given. Make sure that the screw holes are aligned on the outside handle with the holes already in the euro profile cylinder. Then put in the spindle provided and tighten the screws. Repeat the process to install the internal handle.

One important thing to note is that the cylinders provided with these handle sets aren't typical cylinders that are used on modern multi-point locks. The cylinders that come with these handle sets are smaller in size and do not require the larger bulb-shaped cylinders that are normally used on older multipoint doors. These cylinders can be obtained from your local locksmith or purchased on the internet. This is an expense in addition to the new handles made of upvc and is only required if your double-glazed door has older multi-point locks. The majority of upvc handles on the market are supplied with these cylinders because they are the most popular size in use. However, it is always a good idea to keep spare cylinders in the case in case of loss or breakage. This will help you avoid the hassle and expense of having to order an entire replacement set of handles in the future. This also allows you to utilize the same cylinder for a repair to your current Upvc handles if the spring in the internal handle cassette breaks or wears out. This could happen when the door handle is used with too much force, particularly by elderly or young children.
