3 Wheeled Buggies

A 3-wheel buggy is great for off-road walking & tackling terrain, from bumpy pavements to woodland tracks. They can also be easier to manoeuvre up and down kerbs than 4-wheel models.

Kath who is the editor of MadeForMums' reviews, tested one of these three-wheelers on tarmac as well as on a variety of terrains. Check out her review here.

Stability

Four-wheel buggies with their centre of gravity balanced by your child's weight in the seat, are typically more stable than three-wheelers. But that doesn't mean that an older model with three wheels isn't worth considering, since many of them are built to withstand anything from rough terrain to bustling high streets.

Look for a buggy with large rear wheels, and a lockable wheel on the front. This makes it more comfortable to drive and less likely to break off when driving on bumpy roads. These all-terrain buggies typically have pneumatic tyres, too. They are ideal for handling uneven surfaces and can even be used on sandy beaches or tracks in woodland.

They are also the best buggies to be running with, since they offer great stability on rough terrain and can help you keep up with your jogging partner. They can also be used to go up and down steep kerbs and many of them come with spring suspension that is built-in, so your baby will have a comfortable ride.

One thing that makes a 3-wheeled pushchair difficult to manoeuvre is the wide frame, which makes it more difficult to maneuver through narrow and tight doors than a 4-wheeler. Some manufacturers have addressed this issue by using a clever design which flips the wheels up when they are not being used. This reduces their dimensions and makes it easier to squeeze through doorways.

It's also important to consider whether the buggy you choose to use is suitable for your baby from birth or if you're thinking of using it in conjunction with an infant car seat or carry cot. Make sure that the buggy has a lie-flat feature and if it is compatible with a second seat as well as buggy boards if you intend to bring an infant along. 3 wheel pushchair of 3-wheelers can fold flat and be stacked upright. This is a good option for those with limited space in your boot or have limited storage at home. Some 3-wheelers require you take off the front wheel to fold into smaller spaces.

Manoeuvrability

Three-wheeled buggies generally offer better manoeuvrability than four-wheeled pushchairs. They often have a swivelling wheel on the front which allows you to shift direction quickly and steer with only one hand. Some also have a lockable front wheel which can give you stability on rougher terrain. Certain models can be used with an additional buggy or seat, in case you want to expand your family.

If you are planning to take your three-wheeled buggies off the paved roads then you should opt for an option that has pneumatic tyres. They can handle the most difficult terrain. They will require pumping up occasionally but will be far more durable than solid tyres and are more likely to be puncture-proof. Choose a model that has a the ability to lock the swivelling wheel on the front to help you negotiate tricky surfaces.

When folded, three-wheelers can be more bulky than buggies with four wheels due to the single wheel in front. Check that your chosen model can fit into the boot of your car and can be sat up if necessary. Some models fold by one hand, and they stand up when collapsed. This can help save space in a small car boot.

A well-constructed three-wheeled pushchair can take on any terrain, from busy streets to forest tracks. It's important to think about the way you'll use it every day. If you'll be running the school run using it, it must be able to handle the kerbs and steep slopes. If you plan to jog with it, make sure it has a swivelling "stretch front wheel' that is locked. This will keep the ride stable.

MFM reviewer Kath found her three-wheeled buggy was able to handle well on urban and countryside walks. She said that it navigated cobbles, rough paths and bumpy pavements effortlessly and was comfortable to jog with too. It is also a good option for day trips because it is packed with storage space. It comes with an ample, spacious zip-top covered basket and an extended, 50+ UV hood. It can be adapted to fit a baby's needs from birth, including an infant carry cot or a lie-flat seat. It is also compatible with the most well-known stroller seats and second seats.

Fabric Sling Seat

The main difference between a fabric seat and a modular seat is the fabric sling. It sits inside the frame of the buggy as opposed to being placed on top of it like the modular chair. This allows for a more ergonomically appropriate position for the baby, which results in a lower center of gravity at the ideal height. This translates into an easier push, a lighter curb pop (you don't need as much weight and effort to lift the buggy off the curb's nose) and better balance and stability.

These seats also have Sling fabrics that are simple to clean and durable. These fabrics were designed specifically for Sling chairs and are highly durable and ventilated. They also have excellent durability and are easy to clean with mild soap and water.

If you are a jogger, or you like off-roading, an all-terrain buggy is more likely to suit your needs than a four-wheel buggy. These styles have a wider base and are more stable. They also utilize air-filled tyres for smooth movement over rough terrain.

A brand best known for its car seats, Maxi-Cosi has recently added an all-new 3-wheeler to its lineup with the Stella. The all-terrain stroller has an enormous and spacious travel system seat unit which can be placed either in the direction of the parent or facing the world. It also reclines flat and has an upgraded 5-point safety belt. It can be used with a car seat or carrycot from birth and has a large shopping basket.

Designed for the most discerning buggy owners this luxurious 3 wheeler is as stunning to look at as it is to operate. The sleek frame is finished in a stunning pewter black, with hints of burnished silver aluminium throughout and gives it a true WOW factor. This is a fantastic choice for active parents. It has a large, padded seat which can be set either parent or world facing. It also features an upgraded 5-point harness and an entire set of rain covers.

Modular Seat

Modular seating offers many different configurations that can be adapted to different seating requirements. Modular seating can be easily adjusted to create a cozy place to watch films, or an open layout to entertain guests. Many modular seating systems include cushions that can be removed making it simple to clean spills or stain.

Modular Seating can be designed to blend in with the existing decor or stand out as an accent piece. A variety of color, fabric and shape options mean that you will find a modular seating solution that is a perfect fit for your preferences. Many functional features are available in modular seating such as hidden storage compartments that allow for simple organization and clearing of living spaces.

3-wheel buggies are especially suitable for off-road and all-terrain adventures as they have more stability than strollers with four wheels. The large, highly maneuverable front wheel allows for smooth and agile movement. The tyres, which are usually air-filled and come with suspension, offer a comfortable ride on the most difficult roads and trails. They're also great for walking up hills as the wheels aren't as close ground as they are on 4 wheel pushchairs.

Parents who like to run and jog with their kids usually opt for strollers with three wheels because they are more agile and sleeker than their 4-wheel counterparts. The GB Upp XL, for example, has a sleek, burnished aluminum frame that has a simple, one-handed fold and forward-facing and rear-facing seats. The Babyzen Yoyo, on the other hand, comes with a black frame with a carrycot that is positioned in a full lie-flat position, and has tyres that are air-filled.

Mountain Buggy Sport verso is another fantastic all-terrain choice. It's extremely light and highly maneuverable. It's also incredibly stylish. This buggy will truly protect your wallet from the future and can take you from birth with the included carrycot, all the way to toddler-hood with the seat that is modular (and beyond!). All this is within the footprint of just one buggy.

Duet(tm) is an side-by-side buggy that's compact enough for city life but is also a bit more innovative and controlled. It features a unique fabric seat that is placed snugly within the frame at the right height for weight distribution. This makes it easy for kerb jumping and navigating cities and neighborhoods.
