This sensor is located at the edge of transmission over the flywheel gear. It transmits a signal the ECU via the grey wire (T55/49) and then to the tachometer located in the instrument cluster. 1. Engine Speed Sensor Located on the edge of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends an electrical signal to ECU pin T55/49 via an uncolored wire. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate fuel, timig and boost. It also sends a signal to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster. The sensor serves as a reference point to connect with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu must know when the crankshaft is TDC and the location of the camshaft so it can activate spark and injectors according to the situation. If audi a4 key replacement fails, the ECU will display a P00160 error message. This means that the Crank Shaft is not in line with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of the possibility of a chain stretch or jump in the chain link of the upper timing chain. The code will not appear without the additional information supplied by other sensors (G4 or G40). Testing is a bit tricky since there are two connector pins, and they have different functions however the best method of testing it is to measure resistance between the sensor and the ECU. Or my injectors were not firing. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning, 3 were soaked with gasoline and the fourth was dry. When i crank the engine without sparks, I put a piece of tissue on the top of each of the injector holes and the 3 drenched with gazoline jump out but the 4th stays closed. I checked the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I found 0ohm. Therefore, i think audi a5 replacement key is somewhere else. I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected and runs fine when it is plugged in, but still is experiencing intermittent misfires at higher RPM. The coolant temperature sensor (G62) shows the wrong temperature value of that is -49c even after unplugging it. I also noticed that the gauge for oil pressure in the cockpit is showing 2 bar while the actual pressure is 0.0 if i crank up the engine. I don't know what to do. Fuel Pump The fuel pump in the g28 gets a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is identical to the G4 sender, and both operate on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily locate an extra in a wrecking shop or a parts store. It is easy to test them: simply switch your DMM into resistance mode and test the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump on the connector's edge facing up). They must be infinite Ohms. 4. ECU The ECU of our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY ADU) engines must be aware of the speed and position of the crankshaft to make decisions regarding timing of the fuel injector, etc. It makes use of a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this.
