Seats

The majority of 3 wheel double buggies begin life as single pushchairs. However, some models can be converted to accommodate the seat of a second person or carrycot with adapters (these are more commonly found in tandem buggies). You'll also find that some models will allow you to add a ride-on board for older children who wish to walk, but need some help.

Check out the Joie Evalite Duo for an ideal, lightweight solution for urban streets. It is easy to maneuver and comes with a large basket with lots of storage. It can be used for twins beginning at birth and accepts two car seats, or a carrycot with a seat. The seats are required to be oriented forward and there's no room for a shopping bag underneath which is why you'll need a backpack for this.

Suspension

The quality of the suspension on a 3-wheel double buggy is crucial to how it will be easy for you and your baby to push. It is essential to have a smooth ride, since babies feel every bump on the road. This is especially true if you are driving on rough terrain such as grass or roads that are not paved. Certain models also have locking front wheels to assist in maneuvering and navigating obstacles such as curbs.

Some models have air-filled tyres that are great for all-terrain rides, but they can be prone punctures. Make sure you keep a spare set of tyres inside the trunk. Others have foam or gel tyres, which are specifically designed to handle bumps and are less prone to punctures but you might find them to be a bit stiff and uncomfortable for your child's back when you decide to jog.

The 16" rear wheels, when combined with the lockable swivel wheels on the front, make it a very stable jogging experience. The Urban Glide 2 is loaded with features as well, including a spacious basket with zip-top cover large cushioned seat unit with 50+ UV hood, and game-changing visibility lights that are easy to use and recharge.

Folding

A three-wheel double buggy can be folded up neatly for storage. There are models that fold flat, stand up (as as if they were a pushchair) and those that are able to open up to reveal more umbrella-style folding with an operated break. In general, the more wheels a buggy has the more comfortable it will be to maneuver on rough terrain. This is particularly applicable when the wheels are larger than the average. This will give you more stability and reduce the chance that your children will tip or flip over.
