Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade The stats of an item are enhanced by upgrading it, also referred to as "upping". Each upgrade increment results in an increase in linearity of a given stat. Players can recycle six items at once to gauge the upgraded component of each item. The cost of recycling items scales depending on their rarity and level. Upgrade components A level upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a procedure that can improve the effectiveness of your armor and weapons. Most weapons can be upgraded with a prefix upgrade for example, an insignia or a rune, and a lot of them can be upgraded with suffix upgrades. These upgrades change the name of the item, adding an adjective, such as 'Radiant' or 'Minor Vigor. There are some exceptions, however. the non-inscribable wands, the shields and foci from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, which are not upgradeable with any mods in any way. Glyphs Glyphs are an effective tool for communicating visual information. They move to catch the viewer's attention and spur curiosity in the brain. The animation of glyphs mimics body language, making them even more effective in conveying a message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs can also enhance the retention of messages by creating a familiarity in the brain. Each glyph comes with a range of values that it can enhance a stat in the form of an item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an Artifact. This is the highest value that a glyph can enhance a stat by and not the amount it actually improves the stat by. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the tier and the quality of the product you are creating it for. The majority of upgrade components that are added to items cannot be removed or replaced without dismantling them except for legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a rune or glyph you don't want to use but it hasn't been applied to gear yet, you can move the item to a different piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu within the Glyphs Panel. This will create the new Glyph Set with the selected glyph. If you want to remove the glyph from an item you must salvage it with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. This will cause the item to be destroyed that it was installed in, but you can recover the upgraded item by using the glyph and its shards, so this should not be considered a loss. Adding a glyph to an item could cause it to become unstable, and the shards of that glyph will disappear from your inventory once you dismantle the item. You can also apply an inscription to your equipment to give it an extra benefit. For example the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and then deal it out slowly rather than all at one time. This is useful for players who suffer lots of damage from their enemies but don't want to be overwhelmed. Reroll tokens Reroll tokens can be used to alter the affixes on equipment and weapons. They can be obtained from a variety of sources, such as mysterious boxes, rare drops from skulled monsters or by killing bosses. Each reroll provides the player with an unspecified affix, which is usually better than what they had before. Reroll tokens can also be used to upgrade the weapon's stats to increase damage or bonuses. Rerolled items don't appear on the menu for upgrade options, but they can be upgraded. By pressing the "upgrade button", you can recycle these items that have been rerolled. This will alter the layout of the item's window and let up to six items be chosen for recycling. The developers aren't planning to offer paid rerolls in this point in the game's development. Instead, they plan to add an option to change the race in the near future. Leveling There are many ways to upgrade an item. The first way to level up an item upgrade is to increase the amount of upgrade. This boosts the value of an upgrade for any stat. The second is to boost the effect of upgrading, which increases the healing or damage of a specific stat. In addition you have the option to upgrade the base item to a higher upgrade type. For instance an item that has been upgraded from a rare or unique item to an extraordinary item will be able to get the Enhanced Defense of the new base item type.
