Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and essential way to boost the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can provide extra damage, AD or even affixes.

Rare-grade equipment can be superior to upgraded Common or Magic gear due to their higher requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They increase the effectiveness of the item that they are attached to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of the game and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Alternatively, they can also be rescued from items with upgrade components in them with a professional or higher salvage kit.

The amount of damage that an armored item or weapon will absorb is contingent on the extent of its upgrades. Upgrading a piece of armor to maximum upgrade level will boost its ability to absorb damage. It's important to remember that this will increase the weight of the armor, which means it must be heavier.

There are a few different kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game and they all have different effects. For instance, some upgrades will grant the armor a certain amount of additional health points, while others make it lighter and stronger. The name of the upgrade will indicate the type of upgrade an item can receive, as shown below.

Certain upgrades require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, as shown by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Some upgrades also require charges to use, which are shown by the "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges for these upgrades are updated daily or never expire according to the upgrade.

The cheapest method to upgrade armor is to use Iron Ore, which can be obtained through exploring the surroundings and looting small loot chests. item upgrading Casesgg is more expensive however, it is available through smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide a significant improvement in stats and are worth the cost, especially for single-handed weapons.

The player must be aware that upgrading a piece to the max upgrade level will increase its defense values. However, it will also reduce its agility and its speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor above +9. The added defense usually isn't worth the weight and power cost of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades give players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can boost the accuracy of a rifle or the damage that shotgun shells do. Certain weapons also come with upgrades that enhance their inherent capabilities. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and reduces the risk of overheating of the weapon) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).

The majority of upgrades to weapons require three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons, and a whetblade to apply. They can be obtained by completing Side Quests, killing a certain amount of monsters or bosses, or by contacting the Weapon Upgrade NPC located in Central Flarine.

Upgrades to a weapon, equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade price that is based on a specific number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the higher the number of bars you will need to complete the upgrade. The cost of upgrading will be lower if you have more than one of the upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and sets has changed a bit. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a specific amount of Bars. You could continue doing this until you reached a max upgrade level of the equipment or weapon, following which the upgrades would reset.

You can still do this but the process is based on RNG and low on agency. Instead, you're much better off visiting stores and purchasing equipment with low upgrade levels, but good base scores and stat distributions. These gears have a better likelihood of granting you highest tier blessings and perks.

Most players will want to make the most of upgrades to weapons they are most likely to use to allow them to progress faster. Players should also upgrade the weapons their squadmates use to boost their strength. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R, which will increase its utility when accompanied by biotech specialists such as Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are placed in the armor's sockets and weapons, enhancing the stats of a weapon and providing additional effects. They can be created using a process called jewelry crafting, where you combine a gem and several chemicals at a table. The higher the grade of the gem, the better its secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained around the world through Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and occasionally by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.

The Jeweler can enhance the quality of the gem in stages that range from Crude up to Royal. Based on the level of the jewel, it will provide a different stat boosts when inserted into weapons, gear and jewelry.

All tiers of jewels are crafted at the Jeweler, with the exception of the rare and legendary gems that require you to be at a high enough level to qualify for these. Jewels can be replaced by another one without damaging the original. You can only replace the jewel only once in a piece of equipment.

The use of more jewels in a movement will make it feel smoother and is usually used for aesthetic reasons. The jewels can also enhance performance and create a surface harder than steel so that repeated friction from pivots do not damage them.

In addition to the upgrades mentioned above, the player can also acquire glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs provide a small boost and can be exchanged, however they are not guaranteed to appear as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold, and also a Scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be removed, which returns them to the inventory. Other upgrade components like traits or aegis cannot be exchanged and can only be recovered by using an Upgrade extractor or salvaging with the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage.

Trinkets

Trinkets are small pieces of equipment that provide many small, but beneficial benefits to your hero. They can be obtained in the areas of starting as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, or by completing road interactions. They can be purchased from the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinkets that a player is able to unlock is the cloak, which grants a small, but valuable boost to movement speed and evasion. The player will then be able to acquire rings, amulets and necklaces in a similar fashion as they did with weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has one upgrade slot that accepts either a universal or jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades are smaller and are able to be used on any piece of equipment. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced and are only compatible with certain trinkets.

These trinkets provide additional buffs and abilities that are active when the hero isn't fighting. This allows a hero to become more efficient even when not in combat. It also helps compensate for the absence of good slot in the talent tree or team that are normally filled by the hero's best stats.

A good general rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you will not replace soon, followed by any items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the item being upgraded. This is especially true if you're looking to upgrade several stats on an item. It is best to upgrade just one crucial stat instead of two subpar ones.

In the beginning of the game, players in the jungle are likely to upgrade their trinket into a red one, while top and mid players usually choose either a pink or green ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices will have a major impact on the hero's abilities to control maps.

In addition to the items listed above, players can also find other trinkets in the form of rewards and trophies throughout the game. They can be earned by completing certain milestones within the story, for instance finishing a chapter's main quest or killing a particular boss. You can check them out by clicking on the achievement in the reward section of the hero's menu.
