Tunnel Container Uses

The tunnel container is called a double door shipping container. They are built with the same dimensions as the standard ISO containers, but they open at both ends. This feature allows for easy access to the cargo, and is helpful if you use the container as a storage or conversion project.

Transport

A tunnel container can be used for a variety of different purposes. The dual entry points permit easy access to equipment and materials at either end which makes it easier for palletised items to be transported using a forklift, and also makes the management of stock flow easier. Tunnel containers are often used as temporary bridges at construction sites, and as ticket entrances for events like festivals.

They also make ideal for self-storage. With the erection of the bulkhead partition made of steel the 20ft tunnel container can become two 10ft units, maximising return on investment. Tunnel containers can be customized in many ways. They can include side windows and lighting which makes them more practical for businesses.

Double doors at both ends of the container are ideal for the storage of large or bulky items. This is especially useful for warehouses, since it is difficult to get large machinery and vehicles inside regular shipping containers. You can save lots of time by not having to constantly move the container.

Tunnel containers can be fitted with cooling and heating units that allow them to be used for temperature-controlled storage containers for items like pharmaceuticals, food, and chemicals. They can also be equipped with ventilation to prevent condensation.

Tunnel containers are available in 20ft or 40ft sizes, the same as standard shipping containers. They are ISO shipping standards and CSC plating to be used for international freight. They can also be weatherproofed by adding insulation.

They can be transported on flat-bed trucks or chassis, or mounted on a truck frame or tracks. They're also a great option for military or law enforcement equipment since they are able to be transported between bases, and could prevent unwanted identification of expensive equipment such as command and control centers or mobile operating theatres. They can be transported with different weapons, including missile launchers. Container City in Cholula is a wonderful illustration of how an old sea container can be transformed into workshops, restaurants galleries, and even homes!

Storage

Double end door containers, or Tunnel Containers as they are generally referred to, allow access to stored items from both ends of the container. This greatly improves the ease of access for loading/unloading and allows for full utilisation of storage space. These units are ideal for self-storage facilities as they allow access to both sides without needing to remove items. This is especially beneficial for those who have to store large, bulky or awkward items such as machinery and heavy equipment.

In addition to this, the tunnel container design allows these units to be easily converted into offices or other secure storage spaces. Tunnel containers unlike open-sided shipping containers are able to be opened from either side with the doors locked. This makes them ideal for creating on-site offices or even housing for when needed.

These containers can be used to store specific items. Military units can utilize them to transport expensive systems to temporary locations like command and control centres or mobile operating theaters thereby eliminating the need to move these systems via road.

In the same way, industrial equipment that is specialized like turbines and generators can be shipped in this manner as well. This enables rapid deployment of critical infrastructure in areas where it is needed and drastically reduces the time and cost involved installing fixed infrastructure.

These units can be outfitted with the ability to control temperature and thermal insulation in the event that you are shipping a risky cargo, like biological or chemical substances. This allows the unit to maintain the temperature at a lower level, thus preventing any spoilage.

These units can be fitted with tarp covers that can be removed, which provide extra flexibility when loading and unloading. This permits large or heavy items that aren't able to fit in the standard shipping containers to be transported, including massive machinery or construction materials, such as timber, or other bulky items. These containers can be fitted with high security lockboxes that stop entry from the top.

Stuffing & De Stuffing

When it comes to shipping and storage, logistics professionals use various terms to describe the ways cargo is readied for transport and moved through the supply chain. These terms cover container stuffing as well as de-stuffing, which refer to the process by which goods are loaded into or removed from a shipping container. Understanding these concepts will aid any company that relies on shipping containers for storage or distribution to succeed.

Stuffing a container tunnel involves strategically placing freight in order to maximize space and meet specific logistical requirements. Depending on the nature the cargo, specific packing and loading techniques should be employed to prevent damage during transport. This means placing the largest items on the bottom, and stacking lighter ones on top and utilizing the appropriate securing techniques to stop cargo from shifting in transit. Optimizing the load of the container helps reduce handling, shipping and labor costs, and also ensures compliance with regulations for safe transport.

Unloading or de-stuffing a container is an essential step to ensure the effectiveness of your supply chain. This process removes any excess freight from a shipping container, and requires careful inspection to detect indications of water damage or other physical damage that could affect the integrity of the cargo. Regulatory compliance and effective communication between the logistics service provider and the shipper are essential to a successful de-stuffing operation.

For businesses that require a safe and secure site access point, a refurbished tunnel container is a cost-effective solution. These containers can be converted to a turnstile or an entry point that can be manually controlled to block access to restricted areas of the facility. These units are also popular for bridges that are temporary and as ticket entrances at large events.

While a tunnel container isn't the most popular type of shipping container, they're becoming increasingly popular in multimodal logistics applications. They're ideal for storage and shipping, since their doors that are double-ended allow access from either end. They are frequently used for self storage by organisations who require dual access to their stock. Portable Space can weld in steel bulkhead partitions to convert the tunnel container of 20 feet into two separate 10ft storage compartments that are much less expensive than buying new storage containers.

Security

Tunneling is one method to set up direct point-topoint connections across networks. It encapsulates the packets using a single routing protocol within other protocols to ensure that routers on either side of a tunnel can connect directly with each other.

This permits different applications to share an infrastructure. For example, a company can have tunnels for public internet and internal resources. This will help them to maintain consistent security policies for all employees and customers. Using tunnels, the company can also shield sensitive information from being intercepted by the public network.

Container cargo loads, even though they are made of steel, remain susceptible to theft. tunnel containers for sale used by thieves have improved and they are capable of breaking into a steel container by taking the hinges or doors off. It's therefore important that businesses take the necessary steps to prevent their containers being stolen.

One method to accomplish this is to put a lockbox on the doors. These are steel shrouds that fit around the lug which secures the padlock on the container doors, and they make it difficult to gain access to the padlock area with bolt cutters. Businesses can also install a high security alarm that will notify the company if someone attempts to cut through the lockbox.

Installing turnstiles, or a manual entry checkpoint that has secure access, is another method to enhance security. This is especially beneficial in events where people are entering in large numbers. It is a great way to keep guests safe from rain and wind while allowing security personnel to conduct checks as people enter the venue.

Shipping containers are available in various sizes and conditions and therefore, businesses can choose the one that best suits their needs. Some are designed to hold bulky items such as vehicles and other machinery. Some are equipped with doors on both sides which make them easier to unload and load. And, there are even refrigerated containers that can be used to transport fresh food items.
