Size

Combining the convenience of a microwave oven and the flexibility of wall ovens, a built in microwave and wall oven is an efficient solution for kitchens with a variety of styles. Explore our range of combination wall ovens and microwaves to find the ideal solution for your home. Be sure to read the cutout specifications and installation instructions for the appliance you choose to ensure it works in your space. Our microwave & wall oven models include wall oven and microwave models that are available in a variety of styles, colors and finishes to match any decor. Also, look for features like modern and efficient digital controls, a power-cook function, and built-in self-cleaning options to help you save time.

Convenience

A microwave oven with built-in features will save you counter space and give your kitchen a sleeker look. Because it acts as a microwave and traditional oven it is able to heat leftovers, frozen meals and meals that are pre-packaged in one appliance. It can also eliminate the need for a separate countertop appliance or the bulky wall oven that is a stand-alone unit. A microwave-microwave combination can also be a good option when you are looking to improve your kitchen without having to undergo any major remodeling projects.

You can find microwave ovens in various styles to match your kitchen decor. Certain microwave oven combos come with doors that swing out right to left or drop-down designs that open in the same way as traditional ovens. You can also find microwave ovens that have the drawer design that opens as a cabinet. The microwave drawers can be easily accessible and are perfect for small space.

Combination microwaves also have many features that make meal preparation easier and more convenient. For instance, certain models have sensors that allow you to steam your food and automatically adjusts the time and temperature of your food to ensure that you receive perfectly steamed veggies and fish. Other features include a broil feature that lets you quickly melt cheese or cook your favorite food and Crispwave(tm) technology that lets you grill, bake and crisp foods.

When choosing a microwave oven combination, be sure to think about how often you'll be using each function. If you'll be using the oven more frequently than the microwave, you may be better off buying an extra wall oven. It's important to keep in mind that a combo oven typically has less capacity than a traditional standalone oven.

After you've picked the ideal microwave and oven combo for your requirements, you need to consider the installation. Over-the-range models can be positioned over your cooktop or stove and plug into an electrical outlet, whereas built in microwaves are installed directly into cabinets or walls of your kitchen. Certain models come with trim kits to make your microwave match your cabinets.

Energy Efficiency

Built-in microwave ovens are a great option for those who have smaller kitchens in their house or apartment. They can free up the space in cabinets that would otherwise be occupied by separate appliances, and also reduce energy consumption. They generally provide the most efficient cooking method than traditional wall ovens, because they use less energy. They can also be used to cook food and warm dishes. This reduces the requirement for other appliances, such as toasters or warming plates.

When evaluating possible amendments to energy conservation standards, DOE conducts several analyses that include assessment of technology and market conditions, screening analysis, engineering analysis, and a national impact analysis (NIA). In this SNOPR DOE will draw on its engineering analysis of microwave ovens to determine what degree of efficiency improvement is feasible for this product type.

In the engineering analysis, DOE will compare the design parameters of a microwave with a set of energy performance goals. The engineering analysis will then determine the maximum improvement in energy efficiency that is technologically feasible based on the most advanced microprocessor-controlled model available on the market or in working prototypes, or the maximum reduction in energy consumption that is technically achievable with the current technologies available for this product class.

As part of NIA, DOE will assess the effects on consumers, including the lifecycle cost savings, and simple payback time (PBP). DOE will employ its Government Regulatory Impact Model with an adaptation for microwave ovens to calculate the industry's net present value ("NPV").

The impact of manufacturers will be assessed as well and DOE will employ a modified version of the Industry Cash Flow model that has been modified to this particular product type to calculate the manufacturing NPV. In addition, DOE will consider the potential impact on small-business manufacturers and other subgroups of manufacturers to identify any that may be affected in a different way by these proposals.

DOE will also examine whether the test procedure for microwave ovens needs to be updated in order to include active mode power consumption and an energy use measure. Currently, the test procedures only deal with standby mode power use.

Design

Wall ovens rely on the circulation of hot air evenly while microwaves make use of waves to cause the water molecules in food items to vibrate and generate heat. Combination wall ovens blend these two different appliances into one unit that saves kitchen space and provides a sleek, modern aesthetic. But you need to carefully take into consideration your budget and goals before investing in a combo wall oven. Many of the combination wall ovens we have rated have issues with performance or design.
