Replacement UPVC Door Handles

If you're replacing the handles or want to add a bit of extra security you can choose the perfect handle for your door. These handles made of upvc are easy to install and will meet the required 92mm center distance of multipoint locks.

The most important measurements to consider are backplate fixing centres and lever/key hole dimensions. Make sure you compare these to your current measurements prior to ordering.

Lever/Pad

Lever pad door handles are made up of an elongated lever handle on one side and a paddle-shaped handle on the other. These are designed to work with key wind locks, although they can also be used to split spindle multipoint door locks (though you will need an additional dual spindle lock case).

After you have picked the appropriate handle for the doors the finishes will be listed in the drop-down menu. Certain types of handles are not available in all finishes. Always examine the technical drawing and size sections for the specific item you are looking to ensure that you get the correct size and fit.

When choosing the new set of lever pad door handles made of Upvc it is important to ensure that they correspond to the PZ (distance between the handle spindle and the center of the hole in the cylinder) of your existing multipoint locks, since they have to be in the same line to allow doors to remain locked, whether from the inside or the outside. Our handles are designed to fit most conventional cylinders, but it is a good idea to double-check before ordering.

You will need to remove your existing handles and dismantle the lock case if you are upgrading to dual spindle levers for your handle since this will require a split cylinder inline. You can purchase these separately. We have included a technical illustration in the images of each product.

It is recommended to loosen the screws that are holding the door handle you have and then check the mechanism. You may have to loosen the screws even more when they aren't tight, and then you can remove the spindle and handle and replace it with a new door handle made of upvc. Before you screw the handle into place it is a good idea to make sure it is in the right place. You can do this by placing your finger into the gap between the frame of the door and the handle to ensure that it is in a level position.

Lever/Lever

The lever handles on doors are used to operate a multi-point lock with the Euro cylinder. They can be found on many upvc double doors as well as some wooden and aluminium doors. They are equipped with a lever on the inside and a paddle on the outside and are typically available in two different types. Sprung - These come with a spring cassette within the backplate to help move the handle lever to the horizontal position. Non-sprung: These do not include a mechanism that can spring the handle lever to a horizontal angle.

To fix the door handle lever that is sliding you'll need to locate the hole or detent access pin. It's usually an insignificant hole or protruding ring, or rectangle, found on the handle base plate. Once you've located it, you can loosen the set screw using the help of a screwdriver, and then take it off to allow the lever to return to its horizontal position.

Once the handle has been positioned horizontally, you can put back the screws. Tighten them to ensure that the handle is securely connected to the base plate. It is also advisable to apply a threadlocking adhesive solution to the screw threads to increase the grip and prevent them from loosening over time.

There are a variety of reasons that door handles for levers drop. The most common cause is that the fixings are too tight, causing the lever bearing to get tangled up against the door. It is also possible that the levers haven't been operated at a right angle, which causes compression of the latch mechanism and stops it from fully springing into motion.

The most common reason for a spring lever not operating properly is the spring not being in the right position on the backplate. To check whether the handle is back to its horizontal position, simply turn it.

If the door handles aren't tight, it is essential to spot the issue fast, as it could cause excessive wear on the screws and possibly to the handle falling off the base plate. It is also recommended to tighten any loose screws regularly to stop them from becoming looser.

Lever/Snib

These upvc handles are called 'Snib handle sets' and have the snib lock button on the top of the door lever. If you don't have a dummy locking device you can use this feature to secure the door. These door handles are fitted with a Fullex lock 68PZ. (68mm between the spindle and the lock centre). We also stock a variety of other door handles with 68PZ from manufacturers such as Ferco and Fab & Fix.
