The glyphs' animation mimics body language, which makes them more effective at conveying the message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs also create a sense of familiarity in the brain, thereby increasing retention of the message. Each glyph can increase the value of a stat by a certain range. This is shown on the item when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This is the highest value that a glyph could increase a stat's value by, not the amount that it actually increases the stat by. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the tier and the quality of the product you are creating it for. The majority of upgrade components that are inserted into items can't be removed or replaced without dismantling them except for legendary upgrades and equipment. If you have a rune or glyph you don't want to use, but it hasn't been incorporated to the gear yet, you can transfer the item to another piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu on the Glyphs Panel. This will create the new Glyph Set with the selected glyph. You can take out the glyph using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. This will destroy the item that it was installed in however, you can salvage the upgraded item using the glyph and its shards therefore it should not be considered a loss. Items that have been rerolled may not appear in the item upgrade menu, however they can still receive upgrades. Rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button that alters the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to be chosen to recycle. The level gauge is increased by recycling an item. The amount is determined by the rarity of the item and its level, therefore items with higher levels are more valuable to recycle than lower-level ones. Leveling There are many ways to upgrade an item. The first is to increase the upgrade amount that increases the value of upgrading the stat.
