A 2 in 1 Travel System

If you're looking to travel with ease or create a modern take on an old-fashioned stroller, an automobile seat and stroller combo is the best option. Take a look at the specifications carefully to ensure that your chosen car seat and pushchair are compatible, or consider buying an adaptor.

Travel systems that have been evaluated by editors allow you to move your sleeping baby from the car to a stroller without disrupting them. Some travel systems include a carrycot to encourage natural sleep.

Car Seat

A 2 in 1 travel set includes a stroller and an infant car seat that snaps together. This is a great option for parents who often do errands or take their child on public transport or rideshares. "You'll have less equipment to manage," explains Graco spokeswoman Rachel Stanton. "And it's ideal for families that alternate between public transportation and carpooling with other moms."

Doona infant car seats and latch bases are a popular option, with 90 percent of Amazon reviews giving it five stars. It's a rear-facing car seats that drops down into a stroller that rolls. The transition is quick and easy. The wheels fold down underneath, and it's compact when not in use. The Doona can also be attached to a car's backseat with the LATCH base that is rigid or to taxi-safe belt routes, making it perfect for city families and commuters.

The Mamas and Papas pramette is another great combination of a car seat and stroller. It comes with an infant pram with a hood which opens and an front seat that can be lowered to let your child lay down for nap time or for feedings. It comes with a huge basket, cup holders and a sun shade to store your baby's necessities. The stroller seat is a multi-position reclining seat and can recline to a flat, so baby is comfy for every ride.

The weight and height limits are important. Also, consider whether the infant car seat can only be used with a belt for the back seat or when it has a sturdy LATCH system integrated into. Also look for a lock on the handle to keep it secure in place, as well as the possibility of tilting the handle towards the rear seatback for an anti-rebound bar.

Travel systems only work for infant car seats. Extended-use car seats, which can be turned forward later, cannot be converted into strollers. Many moms decide to purchase a separate car seat and stroller once their child grows out of an infant seat.

Stroller

A stroller is an essential piece of equipment for newly parents. Some travel systems have the baby pram that can be converted into a comfy infant carrycot. This is a great option for parents who don't want to disturb their baby when traveling. Certain brands also provide the option of a car seat and stroller combo that can be clicked together. This allows you to keep your child in the car seat while you transfer them to a stroller, without disrupting them.

A great stroller should include numerous features that make it easy to use and practical. It should come with a large basket that can put away essentials like nappies as well as snacks, toys and other items. Pushchairs & Prams should also be capable of reclining to give your baby a comfortable rest. It should also have a good canopy to protect your baby from the sun, and a lockable front wheel for extra security. It should also be lightweight and compact for storage and transportation to and from the car.

Editor-tested travel system strollers such as the UPPAbaby Cruz v2 Combo, Chicco Keyfit Caddy and Doona Combo all provide convenience by connecting with a range of top car seats that click to attach to the frame and fold up easily. Some have one wheel on each leg to make them easier to move and move across different surfaces.

The ideal stroller should be capable of carrying your child through the toddler years and beyond, so that you can continue using it to get them to and from events, school and play dates. When your child outgrows their car seat, look for a stroller that has a seat facing the world and reclines.

If you plan on using your 2-in-1 travel system for public transport you should look for one with an ISOFIX base, which makes it safe to take off and on buses or trains. Certain models, like the Doona can be mounted on trains and planes to make travelling with your baby easier.
