A single buggy, also referred to as a sleigh or similar sleigh, is an uni-wheeled light carriage usually pulled by a single horse. It is often used by Amish people, and it is also known as a sleigh. Families usually opt for one buggy as it lets them move around with ease.

Since 1998, phil&teds has been at the forefront of technological advancement. Our stroller and Double Kit(tm) bundles provide a variety of choices for every family situation.

Buggies that are single buggies.

A light buggy is a great choice for parents who frequently travel or plan to take public transport with their child or take a trip on vacation. They typically weigh less than 6kg, and fold down compactly, so they can easily be carried into overhead compartments of flights. Buggies that weigh less than 6kg are great for travelling around town because they're easy to manoeuvre. Many come with a sunshade and raincover that are worth the investment to keep your baby happy on any outing!

A jogger's buggy is large with BMX wheels and is specifically designed to exercise. It also has a an excellent suspension to take the bounces and bumps of off-road riding. Jogger buggies aren't easy to steer since the front wheel may swivel, so it's important to lock this when mounting the kerbs or crossing roads.

Some buggies are reversible. This allows the seat to face either way or backwards (also known as parent-facing). This is perfect for babies who are irritable and prefer to be capable of seeing their parents. Some models are only forward-facing, therefore they're best for older children who don't want to be disturbed.

Alternatively, there are tandem buggies, designed to carry two children of similar age together. This can be useful if you have twins or babies born close together but they can be difficult to navigate, especially in tight spaces. Some tandem buggies feature an adjustable mechanism inside each seat, meaning that your child can lie flat while you push them.

The ideal single buggy for you will depend on your budget, lifestyle and family size. Consider a lightweight buggy that includes a seat that can be used right from the beginning. If you're looking to secure your finances consider a single buggy that will adapt to a double buggy the day when you need it. The phil&teds brand has created the first inline buggy in the world and has since launched a variety of stroller and kit bundles to help you reach your goal.

The purchase of a single buggy

A new buggy can be expensive. The majority of pushchairs with bassinets for babies cost more than PS700 which is a huge amount for parents with a low income.

The reality is that, except for an urban area that has public transport at your fingertips or have an enormous car boot and spend your weekend in muddy parks, most families end up buying two buggies. One sturdy buggy that is able to take on rough terrain, carry large loads and expand with your family and another lightweight travel buggy to be used on holidays or in tight spaces such as public transport and busy streets.

We suggest you buy a single that you love and, in the event that your little one grows older and you require an additional double, you can simply sell it on and re-buy the buggy you'd like. You won't be stuck with a novelty you don't need.

Double buggy: Buying one

You have to think about a lot when buying a double buggy, from the cost to the reclined seats available. Also, think about whether you need an extensive basket and the type of suspension that the buggy offers. Think about the features you'd like your buggy to include, such as sunshades and rain covers.

There are a wide range of double buggies available on the market and the best one for you will depend on who will be using it, your lifestyle and budgetary restrictions. If you're expecting twins, or have two children or a baby, you may require an extra flexible pushchair that will be able to accommodate the growing family. UPPAbaby Vista V2 is an excellent example of this, with 30 different seating configurations to suit all age groups. It allows you to use it as a single buggy from birth, and later convert it into a side-by-side model for when your children get older. It can even be used with a third child if the Ride-Along Piggyback Board is added making it a versatile choice.

Mountain Buggy Duet V3.2 is a different alternative. It is among the tiniest double buggies on the market and is as narrow as that of a single buggy. It features two seats facing the world and can be reclined independently. They can also be turned to a flat position. It can be adjusted to accommodate two carrycots, cocoons or two baby car seats.

It's easy to fold and can be done by hand, due to the twist mechanism on the handle. It is also lightweight and, while it might not be as compact as the Cybex Gazelle S, it's still compact enough to fit into the majority of car boot spaces or behind the doors at home. It has a smooth brake and excellent suspension, making it easy to push across rough surfaces. The seats and harness straps of the car are cushioned and comfortable for your child to sit in.
