Bedside Crib Or Co-Sleeper

A bedside crib is a bassinet type cot that attaches to your bed. It allows you to reach your baby to feed them at night, or to soothe them to sleep. They're especially handy for mums recovering from C-section births.

Our parents have praise for the SnuzPod 4 because of its numerous technical features. These include a reflux incline and soothing center, which has an amber nightlight, as well as floor lamps that have two levels of vibration. It's also lightweight and can easily be moved from room to room.

Safety

A bedside crib, also referred to as a cosleeper (or baby bassinet) lets your child to sleep near you during the night in their crib. This keeps them safe from overheating or SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). It's important to follow the manufacturer's guidelines regarding weight limits, and to ensure that the mattress of your child fits comfortably. It is important to stay clear of gaps since they could increase the risk of entrapment. This poses a serious danger. It's also important to keep the crib clear of objects that could create an entrapment risk, such as pillows, blankets and toys.

Look for cribs that have mesh sides that which your child can see through, and a sturdy air-conditioned, flat, and comfortable mattress. The slats must be spaced no wider than 2 3/8 inches apart, and the headboard should be lower than the footboard to ensure that your child is unable to climb out of the crib or raise their head over the footboard. Many models also feature a built-in changing table, shelves to store diapers and wipes, rockers, lighting for night and music. These are all fantastic features, but your baby should remain in the crib until they can sit up or stand. This usually happens around 6 months.

It's also important to choose a crib that does not have corner posts, as these can pose a danger to your baby's health by creating spaces in which their limbs or head could get trapped. Consider removing the posts from your crib to prevent your child from getting entangled with their toys or clothes. Keep the crib clear of drape cords since your baby might get caught in them and fall or strangle.

If you're using a second-hand cot, check that it's safe to use. It should be in good working order and sturdy, and free of loose pieces. It shouldn't have any rough surfaces or holes. It is also important to verify that the cot was stripped down and repainted. Cots made before 1973 may have had leaded paint, which is dangerous for infants.
