About Toto

Toto was formed in 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro, David Paich (who at the time were also well-known studio musicians with Boz Scaggs) and bassist/singer Bobby Kimball. The name comes from the Latin word that means "all inclusive," the group was intent on exploring every style of music.

The third album from Toto, Turn Back, was a failure in 1981. However, they bounced back with their fourth album, Isolation, which contained two songs that were hits including the title track and Roseanna. The album and tour makes them a household name throughout the globe.

After a brief break, Toto returns with the album Fahrenheit. The album is different from the ballads that were featured on previous albums, and features some heavy rock. This album was their first album to go platinum in North America.

When they record the band's fifth album, the band loses their manager and is faced with financial difficulties. They decide to record a new album and change their name with a different producer. The lead vocalist Fergie Frederiksen departs and is replaced by Joseph Williams, son of legendary film composer John Williams and 1950s actress Barbara Ruick. Joseph is a more natural frontman than Frederiksen and gives the band a much-needed boost.

The band released Mindfields in 1999 and embarks on a massive worldwide tour. After several weeks in Europe, the band heads to Japan for sold-out shows. After a brief break, Toto resumes recording and begins recording their first live album titled Absolutely Live in 1993 which includes the cover of Weezer's track Hash Pipe in response to the band covering their hit Africa during a recent tour. ?????? ?? touring lineup is completed by drummer Lenny Castro, bassist Shannon Forrest and keyboardist Shem von Schroeck.

Music

Toto was the first album released by toto in 1978. The album was a huge success and launched the band into international fame. Since then, the group has released 14 more albums, which have also been hits.

In 1984, Toto wrote their first and, to this day only, movie score for the film Dune. This was a huge project and the entire band was required to participate. The album that came out, Kingdom of Desire, was another record that was a huge success. After a world tour drummer Bobby Kimball left the band and was replaced by drummer Fergie Frederiksen, who was a member of Le Roux. The band continued their journey with their fifth studio album, Isolation. The album contained a variety of hits, such as "Stranger in Town".

After Isolation Toto was released, the band went on hiatus. The break gave each member of the band the chance to explore their own solo projects. In 1996, the group reformed to tour and make an album. It was the first time that all of the original members were on stage together for over 10 years.

The following year, Toto toured together with Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band. This was the last time that all of Toto's original members appeared together on stage at the same time. After that, the group was again disbanded. However, Toto reunited in 2010 to benefit the ALS Foundation. This was the first time all the original Toto members were performing together for more than 31 years. In addition to the original members keyboardist Greg Tambu filled in for Paich and bassist David Hungate filled in for Shem Von Schroeck.

Tours

Toto has been one of the most adored rock bands for over three decades, releasing megahits such as "Rosanna," "Hold The Line,"" and their 8X platinum smash, "Africa." With a variety of influences, from progressive rock to world rhythms, jazz and soul The group continues to delight fans with their acoustic arena rock.

The band experienced several setbacks during their later years, despite their acclaim. In 2002, keyboardist David Paich and drummer Greg Phillinganes were forced to take a medical leave of absence. Drummer Shem von Schroeck was brought in, but the band was not the same without Paich and Phillinganes. In 2008, Toto decided to take a break from touring after a string lineup changes and a series of disappointing releases. The group returned to the road in 2012 following the release of their album 40 Trips Around The Sun.

The album marked a return to form for the group, and the tour accompanied it with sold-out shows across North America and Europe. The reunion of Toto gathered momentum after the return of bassist Shem Von Schroeck and guitarist Steve Lukather.

Toto's music is just as relevant today as it was back in the 70s and 80s and is growing in popularity with every new generation. Their success has made them a permanent fixture in pop culture and their live shows are always filled with energy and excitement.
