EV Star GreenPower Motor Company produces a complete line of high-floor and low-floor all-electric medium and heavy-duty vehicles. Their flagship vehicle is the EV Star Cab & Chassis platform, which can be used to accommodate many different body designs and upgrades for a variety of applications. The platform's clean sheet design allows the best battery pack placement and lower center of gravity, resulting in better payload-to-range ratios. The EV Star REEFERX was designed for mid-to-last mile refrigerated deliveries as well as catering applications. The refrigerated truck's class 4 configuration's one wall structure in the interior and higher insulation levels compared to traditional trucks enable seamless sanitation, better temperature control, and a longer life. The EV Star REEFERX delivers superior cargo capacity and an industry leading payload to range ratio for zero emission passenger transport and goods. GreenPower has partnered with Perrone Robotics to up-fit the EV Star with their TONY (To Navigate You) autonomous vehicle system, which will allow fleets to seamlessly transition to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star is also capable of wireless charging up to 75 kW. We were capable of testing the EV9 on the local highway for a few hours. We found it to be easy to drive, and comfortable to drive for long distances. The ride is smooth on ruts and bumps, while the EV9 does a great job of suppressing wind and road noise on the highway. The vehicle's acceleration is surprising quick, and it has adjustable regenerative brakes to enable "one-pedal driving" simply by taking off the accelerator. The EV9 has a great range and can be fully recharged within three hours at home, or with any commercial charger. Drivers have the option of choosing between two modes of operation that include eco mode and sports mode. Eco mode focuses on the power as well as cruise control and handling while sport mode focuses on speed. Both modes are enjoyable to drive and provide a unique experience for those who've never been in a vehicle with an electrical system before. In addition to the EV9, GreenPower has several other e-vehicle offerings including a multi-purpose electric mini bus called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA-compliant and can be used for executive shuttles, microtransit or transit vanpools, buses, or paratransit vehicles. GreenPower produces approximately 10 EV Star busses a month for Jacksonville Transit Authority. The Jacksonville Transit Authority is replacing their fleet of diesel vehicles with 100 electric vehicles. GreenPower will increase production to meet the demands of the Biden Administration, which is looking to electrify all school buses in America. Their EV Star bus is the first of its kind to be tested by Altoona and FMVSS-certified, Buy America compliant and ADA compliant. This means they'll be eligible for federal transit assistance grants. Keep an eye on us for updates as we follow the AV Star on its tour of demonstration later in the year. We will be sure to provide more information on this amazing electric vehicle!
